Thank you, Jenny - it is a tragic day.
It's gray and dreary here on the Central Coast of California, after a week of beautiful, warm, sunny weather, and this is as it should be.
Mr. Inspectorette has put our flag out at half staff. Hope all Freepers will remember to do this.

Also Post #8 Pert_UK
Someone who's registered there oughta send Pert and Dembabe(?) private good-job posts. They will probably catch a ration of clinton for daring Deviate.

And as for my memory of what I read in a newspaper. I read it in the Indianapolis Star. I have no reason to believe that it was anything other than true.
Of course as I type this, I have no proof. It's just something I remember because I always thought it was interesting.

....People ALL over central texas heard it but CNN choose Palestine to write about. Doesn't that suggest suggest something to you? >>>>>>>>>
Someone posted a command center set up here.....there is
also a NASA weather base in this county.....also local
Dallas news also started reporting about Palestine...

Agreed, Bones. Snopes.com has a section on "urban legends" with regard to the
Challenger disaster -- apparently a lot of them got going with a "story" crafted out of whole-cloth in the
Weekly World News! Very sad day, but they "boldly went," didn't they?
To: justshe
*Bad decision, imo. Why do we need to hear this garbage? What POSSIBLE purpose can it have beyond inflaming people here? Is that really necessary for those who are feeling genuine grief and/or shock? To me, this is like allowing people into the funeral services who you KNOW are just there to spit on the participants.*
These people need to be dislayed for everyone to see. This is what we are fighting!
To: George W. Bush
We have no choice. The three on the space station need to come home.
To: null and void
No, null. Though other than the DU links, I haven't seen any dissension.
To: spectre
One of the major cable news is reporting "gruesome discoveries"..You are, sad to say, probably correct.
Wait for evidence. These news ghouls are desperate for ratings.

Flaming doesn't bother me. But I don't like being called a distruptor. Or the cause of someone's pain. Especially when I've got someone emailing me a bazillin times TELLIING me to stop AFTER Admin Moderator approved it. And that is the person whom I'm suposedly causing pain.
Maybe I should just post all the private emails....But it's just not that important considering what's really going on today.
Sigh.....

I make no bones about it. In my opinion, they need to be exposed. IMHO, it is unseemly to use this thread (and the tradgedy we are witnessing) as a vehicle to expose the misguided opionions of others.
To: Spyder
Actually they NEED America more than America needs them because they would not be able to say what they say as citizens of ANY OTHER nation.. God Bless the USA!! I am glad they have the RIGHT to say what they do.. and we have the RIGHT to disagree with them or better yet IGNORE them.. Looking forward to holding 60 GOP SENATE SEATS in 2004 !!

People ALL over central texas heard it but CNN choose Palestine to write about. Doesn't that suggest something to you? Yes, it suggests that there were witnesses and information readily available in Palestine, Texas.
Why -- what does it suggest to you? Something sinister? If so, get a freakin life.

Re Challenger:
But I THINK I have seen other reports about "Switches being thrown".
I recall some of the oxygen backpacks had been MANUALLY activated. Also, no public playing of the cockpit voice recorder.
To: P.O.E.
There's nothing offensive about that post. I said the same thing immediately after the Challenger disaster, and I'll always speculate on it about this one, too.
Not that the crew was unqualified, but that NASA's priorities may be out of whack.
Go back and look at the crew photos of the first half-dozen shuttle missions after the shuttle program was re-started in the wake of the Challenger disaster. Military payloads were given top priority, and the crews, if I remember correctly, were almost all older white men.
To: bonesmccoy
It is my understanding the crew compartment, a pressure vessel within the air frame, survived the Challenger explosion. I'm not sure about impact details.
To: txdoda
It's unbelievable debris is still falling hours later, isn't it? I've heard them say several times on FNC that all the debris may not be down yet. People in the Palestine/Athens area are very lucky nobody on the ground was injured given the size of some of the pieces they've found.
To: Connservative
Not during 'the funeral'. It is a discussion that could take place at another time....in another place.
