There's a period during re-entry where the ionization caused by the ship plowing through the upper atmosphere at thousands of mph causes radio transmissions to be disrupted. They don't get contact back until the shuttle slows down and gets out of the ionosphere. That's how it used to work, anyway, I guess it's still valid now.

Sounds from other folks as though it's been discussed back in the thread, and I hate to add repeat chatter to a long thread. Long story short, a caller got in on a hoax and closed with the words, "you're such an idiot", after which Rather deadpanned, "yes, I am an idiot, but that's beside the point".

Man! It is so PETTY for you and Howlin' to engage in a flame war at a time like this. It's not about YOU TWO. Talk about egomaniacs.
Stifle it, both of you!

As you like. I choose not to read about it or see it at this time or place. I am aware there are disgusting people in the world. I don't need jerry springer to show it to me here and now.

FNC just reported that there's debris in New Mexico.
May God have mercy on their souls. The stars over Texas are a little less bright tonight. Texas has lost two of their best and brighest today.

Soemone speculated on another thread that a Russian Soyuz mission would be used to evacuate the space station.

Hang in there and keep trying.

There have been strange searches in the Catoctin Mountains, near Camp David, the past week or two.The Left is so full of psychopaths. We know how much they hate GWB, hate America. I suspect the reason for much of the caution and seemingly strange procedures are justified for the president's security.
The Left is the enemy within. I do not trust any Leftist as far as I could throw a Chevy Suburban. I trust no Leftist working for the government either and would not rule out any possibility of sabotage in any disaster (including this one), or any possibility of a Leftist plot to hurt the president. The Left is a most fanatic group of anti-American sociopaths and they mean to destroy America by any means necessary.

I can't get audio on the BBC World feed. Do you know what's wrong?

I can't argue with you. You couldn't be more right.
But if it makes any difference, even though Howlin and I agree or a number of things and I have defended her in the past, I now see why she gets into so many flame wars.
Yes...I am trying to defend myself with those statements.

One of the major cable news is reporting "gruesome discoveries"..You are, sad to say, probably correct.

Those people on the democraticunderground are either very ignorant, very childish or very sick.
Ive seen some dem bashing here but nothing as low or as childish as the few I read on that forum.

I am sure that we have wasted money from NASA on being "trendy" and "PC" and "eco-friendly" when quite obviously we needed to build a better and more advanced and safer space vehicle/system.
Place these 7 heroes lives also on the alter of political cowardice.
We need a new "Apollo Program" right now.
To: BlazingArizona
Yes, I believe that is what I have posted in multiple messages this AM.
