Delaware Student suspended for wearing pro-life t-shirt

A student at Caesar Rodney High School was given an in-house suspension for refusing to take off her "Abortion is Mean" t -shirt. Alicia Martin (director of Rock for Life Delaware) comments: This young lady felt so strongly about her right to wear the shirt and share its truth that she was willing to pay the price. We talked when she got home from school and I got her on the Phone with Bryan Kemper. (National Directorof Rock For Life). He referred us to theThomas More Center for Law and Justice. He also confirmed that she had every right to wear her shirt at school. The young lady's reasoning for refusing to take the shirt off was that there were many other kids with much worse messages on their shirts such as the middle finger, erotic images, and satanic ritualistic symbols. The sad thing is that the girl's mother ( an employee of a very high ranking Pro-abort female elected Delaware official) , "doesn't want to pursue the issue". In a show of support, however, many schoolmates will be wearing their pro-life t-shirts to school tomorrow. Please keep these kids in prayer. Stay tuned for more info as it happens.

Got this email forwarded to me and it couldn't find it elsewhere on the web. No surprise it wasn't in the local pro-Biden paper. This girl's case is acomplete outrage. Let's see how many pro-choice t-shirt merited a suspension. I hope it ends up on FOX.

This issue has alredy been decided. Schools can not pick and choose which messages kids can wear on clothing.

Article has already been posted today how a school backed down and reversed its "Confederate ban" when faced with a suit.

How many people have had any change in attitude or thought by a slogan on a T-shirt? Seems like a rather ridiculous battle. Why not devote time, instead, to a worthwhile pursuit instead of getting branded as a troublemaker?

Someone forwarded this email to you?

Is there any way to verify that it actually happened?

Cesear Rodney High School in Camden, Delaware has a webiste that lists the email addresses of most of the school's staff members:

http://www.crsd-k12.com/crhigh.html

Would it be inappropriate for someone to write a note to the Dean of Students there to see if this thing really happened?

I would hate for us to be set up by something that never actually occurred.

Here is another link where another school tried to do exactly the same thing.

That's not the point. Other students are permitted to wear t-shirts with messages. She isn't. This has already been decided in the courts.

I think any advertising promotes an issue. Perhaps a mind isn't changed, but it causes dialog. Then again, maybe a mind is changed. If advertising didn't work...why advertise. That's all the T-shirt slogan is...advertisement.
My brother once saw a guy in Austin wearing a T-shirt promoting a 10K run for "March of Dimes". Although he was just in town on business for a few days he signed up for the run.

Here's an apropos statement regarding the ACLU.
Dennis Miller Delivers Zingers Against Penn, the French & ACLU
Source: Media Research Center; Published: January 30, 2003; Author: Brent Baker

".......... He also took on liberals for opposing school vouchers when public schools are a disaster and offered this blast at the ACLU's priorities: “The ACLU spent this entire holiday season protesting public displays of the nativity scene. Yeah, that's the problem with America right now: Public displays of Christ's birth, that's the problem. It's unbelievable to me. The ACLU will no longer fight for your right to put up a nativity scene, but they'll fight for the right of the local freak who wants to stumble onto the scene and have sex with one of the sheep.” ..............."

She wouldn't take her shirt off because unlike the girls wearing the 'pro-choice' slogans she didn't have pasties on.

This is so bizarre, I would suspect it to be an urban legend.
