WASHINGTON - Debbie Poore told police her husband of three weeks called her at work about 6 p.m. Thursday to say that their dog, a 2-year-old Chinese Shar-Pei, had bitten him on the hand - and that he was going to kill it.

Sort of a "Tales From the Crypt" ending.

Poore's death is being considered accidental, according to Lieutenant Greg Printz, but the investigation remains open while police wait for autopsy results from the Fairfax County, Va., medical examiner and other forensic evidence. ''We have not ruled out anything at this point,'' Printz said.
They're checking the dog's paws for powder burns....

It is interesting to me the lengths the paper went to, to let us know the man's past. Did I need to know his criminal history to fully understand this report? Very strange.

Revenge of the dog. (Were they able to save the poor critter?)

I personally thought that the physical description, criminal record and description of his trailer provided the reader with enough information to understand what happened.

I don't know. Pretty dumb to draw down on the family dog if you are not sure you can out shoot him.
Obviously this is a hunting dog.

Nope, no happy ending for the pooch on this one...
The dog, a female named Bailey, was destroyed yesterday morning by Frederick County, Va., animal control officers at Debbie Poore's request. The couple had gotten the dog from a friend about eight months ago.
This is one you'll never see on "Animal Precinct"...

A wonderful example of poetic justice, IMO.

Poor Bailey
As you know a Shar-Pei is a very loyal dog to their owner
I am sorry her short life was with this trailer trash madman
Justice was served
There won't be anymore Baileys for him to abuse

It helps me to understand this guy was a first class A-hole and noe particular loss to society. I do however, feel sorry for the dog. Wish the dog could have lived.
