Some 50 people opposed to a war in Iraq plan to leave for Baghdad tomorrow in a double-decker bus to act as “human shields” in the country, organizers said Wednesday.

What do these fools think they can accomplish with this idiocy? Is one of Saddam's minions going to direct these people to go sit on a radar site in the desert? Or sit on the roof of a military building? Are they going to do it? Five minutes after the bombs start flying, these useless idiots will be vaporized.

These guys are going to take longer to get to Iraq than it took the Apaches to get to Kosovo.

BTW, those Apaches will be ready to go any day now, and then Milosovic better watch out!

To quote some Beattle lyrics.

The bus will take a wrong turn in France and plunge headlong into Germany where 'Fun-Boys' will hijack them and treat them like Eskimo wives.

From Germany the bus will wander eastward into a drab, grey countryside, eventually being stopped by police wearing greatcoats and officer's caps with peaks so high they have to bend over to get through the bus door.

Trucked to a gulag, the human shields will each be chained to a veteran prisoner.

O'Keefe's partner will be a grizzled old man, who will size Ken up and say, "Amerikanski?".

O'Keefe will nod dully and ask the old man, "What are you in for?"

The old man, already back to swinging his axe at the base of a tree will laugh and reply, "Pulitzer... I von Pulitzer Prize in 1958."

Their slogan should be...

Walking into Baghdad erect .... leaving Baghdad a wreck.

Let me get this straight. (No, that is not a Scott Ritter quote.)

50 protestors left England in a double decker bus bound for Iraq to act as human shields.

Just how far is that?
Did they charter the bus or buy it?
Why a bus?
Why not fly to Iraq if they are that dedicated? Can't cost much more than the bus trip and provisions on the trip. Saddam would probably pick up the tickets anyway for the publicity.

Answers.
They are only interested in a symbolic gesture as symbolism speaks louder than words. Especially from the dead mouths of nitwits after the bombing starts.
Covering their ass with using a bus to make a trip that covers several thousand kilometers (or even miles) cause they realize the best place to be when the bombs are dropped is any place where you can say, "WTF was that?"
Why not fly? Hey a long bus trip with folk songs, weed, Blue Nun and Mateus wine and connecting with the wonderful peace loving people along the way, it is like so being one with the earth.
There are definitely different levels of dedication.

Shhh! Loose lips sink ships!

Remember, JimRob doesn't want us to post any militarily useful information. It would be tragic if the Iraqis found out that these guys were actually forward spotters in disguise! It could blow the whole operation!

This is very dissapointing. Why only 50?

Officially, it is now known that Tony Blair has been notified that UK and US citizens are going to be in harm's way and will be killed by our own governments if they go ahead with this war

Thanks, Ken, but Saddam's already provided plenty of incentive to go ahead. Wasting pro-fascist lefties is merely icing on the cake.

Too bad we can't lock into their cell phones or give them all GPS transmitters. Think of all the money we'd save on targeting operations...

What if we infiltrated these idiots, and are going to report back where Saddam doesn't want them to camp out?

If a mole said, I plan to pitch my tent at the entrance to that Government funded Gand Mosque and Saddam's goons said, "try another place" we would have another indicator, that there may be more than Koran's in there.

When did Saddam get so religious?

If these guys are giving aid and comfort to the enemy, I think they are hardly citizens of the UK and US anymore.

Some 50 people opposed to a war in Iraq plan to leave for Baghdad tomorrow in a double-decker bus......

It's a re-conditioned 1967 model, complete with the traditional peace symbol painted on one side and a multi-colored rainbow and flowers on the other. The destination window on the front says "Make love, not war" and there is a sound system which continually plays Buffalo Springfield, Grateful Dead and Joan Baez music.

This is what is called a stunt.

Any human who voluntarily risks his life for a butcher like Hussein, is certifiably mad.

It's a shame someone does not charter a plane for them. Sometimes I really wish I were rich.
