Now the red/Green German majority is trying to start a debate in the Bundestag to disallow U.S. bases in Germany to be used for Iraq action. They are also considering disallowing American Military to use German airspace for flyover. Doesn't anyone think it is time to get our bases out of there and to boycott German and French products?

Count me on board -- been posting her for two days it is time to move our military and bases out of Germany. 86th AD has already moved to Aviano, IT, from Ramstein -- time to move USAFE and the rest of the AF to Italy and Spain.
Am all for a boycott of anything German or French which should be easy!

Clear out Ramstein and all the Americans living in Kaiserslautern as a first step. Watch the Germans howl at that dent in the economy. K-town and Landstuhl derive a major benefit from our base at Ramstein.

Thans for your support. Can you imagine, I was born and raised in K-Town? Just call me a Master Race reject :)
I can't stand those arrogant Krauts.

It would be really bittersweet for me....for I was born in Germany and spent years as a child on US Army posts in Germany....but its time to move the bases out.
If Spain and Italy are more receptive to the US..then lets reward them.
Gerhard Schroeder should join the Dems..he would fit right in

It's time we do the German Bases as we did the Sucker-Blower (French) ones as we move out; nothing left bigger than a square inch that could be used!

We should pull ALL our military out of Germany and Americans should start an immediate boycott of all German and French goods - buy Australian wine and British cars instead of German Cars!!
We should vote with our wallets and let those freeky rats over there feel the impact!!

I've been advocating a boycott of Mercedes Benz (now all of Daimler-Chrysler since the Jesse Jackson lovefest occurred)and BMW, may as well make it all German and French products.
Anyone care to start of a list of brands to avoid?

I bet the Poles would love to have us.I saw someone propose that we scrap NATO for a new alliance that will feature the former Warsaw Pact countries and Britain. It is making more and more sense with each passing day.

Scrap the German bases but leave a dirty stable atomic nuke in the middle of each one (so no one uses the base).
Remove all our troops that were ever buried in French soil and bury them at Arlington.
Then go put new bases in Poland and turn the screws to the Franco-German Axis of Weasels.

Iraq is nice and central to where we will be operating over the next few years. Good plan!

Doesn't anyone think it is time to get our bases out of there and to boycott German and French products? I don't know about the boycotts, but it is time to re-examine bases in Germany and in fact our entire position on NATO. The question is, what is the function of NATO in the absence of a Warsaw Pact? What is NATO's mission? (Aside from providing lots of jobs in Brussels.)
BTW. If the US did decide to pull out of Germany, these same Greenie pols would have a s**t fit. It would mean one hell of a lot of tax money and German jobs down the drain and far more than political correctness, these leftists LOVE money. Ted Kennedy loves to cut the defense budget, but he'll fight like hell to keep DoD jobs in Mass. Same thing for these German hacks.

. Doesn't anyone think it is time to get our bases out of there and to boycott German and French products?Absolutely! We lose nothing by leaving Germany, and gain in both principle and readiness by leaving. Downscale our investment in NATO, the U.S., and invest in the U.S. military.
As for French and German products, don't worry, I only buy Chinese (just kidding; can hardly avoid it). I sure as heck won't be buying any high ticket items from German or French manufacturers. I'll also pick airlines with American made planes, whenever possible.
The European's are ungrateful Narcissists. Their gratitude to the U.S. for over 50 years of defending their freedoms and territorial integrity lasted what, 10 years? Less than a generation!? Their current generations loath the U.S. and Americans, because that's what they've been taught by the generations who benefitted from our treasure and servicemen's lives.
The Brits are the only one's I'd want at my back. I guess the only German's with backbone died in 1945. As for the French, they've been the joke of Europe for over a 100 years. My father fought in WWII. I served from 1980-1995.
My son's considering making this a third-generation Navy family, but I sure as heck don't want him putting his life on the line for Europeans, Canadian's, or other socialist SOB's. But we'll be there for the Brits, any time, any day, and I WILL buy British products!

My last visit to K-town was in 1992 to install some software for the NATO ops at Ramstein. The company put me up in a lovely little guesthouse on the river. We had a nice Thai meal at a restaurant located on a second floor. K-town is an interesting place. The highlight of my mornings was to get the weather report from "Maxi Biewer" on the local television station. I wasn't in town long enough to really get irritated about anything. The stark German decor and the funny down comforter wrapped in a sheet was a bit different :-)
