Let me give a hint on the care packages. While cookies are welcome, and soap and toiletries are always appreciated, please do not pack the soap and the cookies in the same box. The cookies wind up tasting like soap. I speak from personal experience on this one.

I have a little goody to add to today's "festivities". This was sent to me my new friend who's serving on the USS TARAWA and I'd love to share it with all who come to the Canteen.
My own little name for this one is "All In A Day's Work".
Thank you, bkwells and "Raz" for answering the call to duty to the USA!!

Sniff' Todays thread is special to me. My Grandfather fought in the battle of Tarawa. He was a beautiful man. I loved him so much. He was a huge part of my life growing up and I will miss his gentle voice and tender support for the rest of my life. He is one of the main reasons I come to the canteen to show my support to the troops. I truly believe that the men fighting for us must be angels sent from above to keep us in Gods hands and free from danger. God Bless all of you and thank you for making great men like my Papa. I love you all and you are in my prayers each and everyday.

Two elderly women were eating breakfast in a restaurant one morning. Ethel noticed something funny about Mabel's ear and she said,
"Mabel, did you know you've got a suppository in your left ear?"
Mabel answered, "I have? A suppository?"
She pulled it out & stared at it. Then she said,
"Ethel, I'm glad you saw this thing. Now I think I know where my hearing aid is."

Lookie Girlz, a cable car today. ms feather, I know it doesn't fly, but you can ring the bell and scare anybody with earshot. sg, it doesn't have wings, but I'm sure that between you and ms feather you'll figure out something.
