Sniff' Todays thread is special to me. My Grandfather fought in the battle of Tarawa. He was a beautiful man. I loved him so much. He was a huge part of my life growing up and I will miss his gentle voice and tender support for the rest of my life. He is one of the main reasons I come to the canteen to show my support to the troops. I truly believe that the men fighting for us must be angels sent from above to keep us in Gods hands and free from danger. God Bless all of you and thank you for making great men like my Papa. I love you all and you are in my prayers each and everyday.

Thank you, Papa, for your service to our country. And for leading Beth to the Canteen to help honor our military, past and present.

My Grandfather fought in the battle of Tarawa Wow... that was one heck of a battle. One my last deployment about 2 years ago, we stopped by the Tarawa atoll and had a ceremony honoring the brave men who fought in that battle. I even have a bottle of sand from the beach.
Thank you!
