Bono Plans Iraq Visit
Internet Movie Database ^ | January 9, 2003

Posted on 01/09/2003 10:00:14 AM PST by Paul Atreides

Irish rock star Bono is following in the footsteps of actor pal Sean Penn and planning a political trip to Iraq. The U2 frontman is hoping to visit the Gulf state within the next fortnight in order to highlight the humanitarian crisis which would result from war with the West. Kathy Kelly, one of the campaigning American human shields visited by Penn in Iraq last month says, "Penn has been putting pressure on Bono to follow suit. Apparently he's going to come." American President George W Bush has previously praised Bono's compassionate gestures, saying, "He has a willingness to lead, to achieve what his heart tells him and a belief that nobody should be living in poverty in the world." However, Bono's reported plans are sure to conflict with Bush's war machinations.

Everybody knows what a wonderful job he did for AIDS in Africa, just by visiting. He did eradicate AIDS, didn't he?

After seeing how Penn was Saddamized, Bono wants some of that too.

Nothin' wrong with him that a 500 lb. bomb wouldn't fix.

"...in order to highlight the humanitarian crisis which would result from war with the West"

This is so terminally stupid. A war is the only way to end the humanitarian crises that is Iraq.

Will Bono take former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neil on this humanitarian mission (vacation) to Iraq? They were such good friends on their Love Fest Tour of Africa.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Unfortunately, we only drop intelligent bombs and they won't be able to find him.

Isn't he the bozo that performed at the super bowl a few years ago? Whatever happened to marching bands?

I think marching bands must be too elitist. Now, we have to have to have anything as long as it isn't traditional.

"However, Bono's reported plans are sure to conflict with Bush's war machinations."

4th Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, Part 3, Article 1, Section 28:
"The presence of a protected person (aka civilian noncombatant) may not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations."

I would be curious to hear Saddam's opinion on Bono's and Sean's careers. Apparently, neither one realizes that, if they weren't such useful idiots, they (the Western devils) would be dead and dragged through the streets.
