President Bush headed to Ft. Hood, Texas today to rally and to thank the many troops who serve from their home base. Bush used the opportunity to tout the military spending bill, as well as to once again assure all that we will win the war on terror. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

The thread I linked above has all of them in a frenzy over a website that has nothing to do with policy.

I had seen that thread earlier and I steered clear of it .. I wasn't in the mood for an argument of something as silly as that.

I can understand why they are upset over the border issue .. but this isn't something that can be fixed over night .. but they don't want to hear that .. they just want to close the borders and put mines on them ..

It's not about the border, It's not about illegal aliens. It's about something to bitch about. I have checked out thousands of these threads where these lost souls gather and I have never seen one of constant whiners ever have anything constructive to say.

You will never see a realistic plan to fix the problem of immigration. Just a toilet bowl full of useless rhetoric aimed at bashing Mexicns and this administration. Ray Charles can see that there is no simple solution to stopping people who are willing to risk their lives to get in this country. The major problem is the I.N.S. and it's inability to screen and process the millions of people who cross our borders each day. Unfortunately, The only way I see to solve the majority of the problems that we face at our borders is a National I.D. card. Try and propose that on one of those Toilet Bowl threads :-)

Hi, Mike!

you're probably still in bed, but I had to say something in agreement with all the others who posted on this thread.

I've read your comments, the first one had me in tears. You do write beautifully!

God bless you and your family.

I treid to post a reply to your earlier post, but my system just wouldn't cooperate. So, here goes.

So many have said what I wanted to say, but what you wrote about our President, I can heartily agree with. I saw parts of the speech, and when he choked up, I did, too. The way you characterized his speech was so insightful and respectful, it had me crying all over again. Thanks.

I, too, don't always agree with all of what he does. I think I'm more concerned about immigration and our borders, all of them: Airport, Mexican, Canadian, etc., than he is. But, I firmly believe that he will appoint Judges to the SCOTUS who will make a difference in our lives for generations to come. I sincerely hope that he takes advantage of our Republican win in the Senate to get his candidates through that process.

Mike, you are a gem and I value your friendship. I am so glad I had the chance to meet you at the DC Chapter's "Bob Barr FReep - visit to the White House" and the kindness you showed to me, Lawgirl and "lurker Pat" on that day. God bless you.

Thanks, Republic and PLK.........however right now I am filled with rage because the STUPID Browns threw away a HUGE lead over Pittsburgh to lose their playoff game in the last 3 minutes!!!!!

I HATE Football!!! I LOVE Football!! I HATE FOOTBALL!!!!! ARGGHHHH!!!

it's just a game it's just a game it's just a game it's just a game

ANYWAY........YES, we've been to the Golden Lamb in Lebanon several times and it is WONDERFUL!

However, watch out for the police department........they threatened to jail me once for a speeding ticket because I didn't have the cash with me at the time to pay the fine.

I felt like I was in a B movie about a corrupt small town sheriff. LOL!

mountaingirl.......my team will not be playing your beloved Raiders next week, so we can stay friends...........sigh

I am so sorry, Ohio! I watched most of the game and then when the Browns were ahead by 12 points and there were only ten minutes left in the game, I went to the store with my two daughters, confident that your team would win. I couldn't believe my ears when I got home and found that they didn't. :-(

Well, if you've been a Browns fan since birth, you're used to disappointment......but this one was far beyond that.

Oh, well..........while the Browns were losing, our President and First Lady arrived safely back in Washington looking mighty fine, so there was some good news anyway!

Good luck to the Raiders next week. (They would have beaten the Browns.....)

Got to think about taking it down soon.
Why??

Fire hazard. The last couple days it hasn't taken up much water, or the water's just evaporating.

Tomorrow, Epiphany, is it's last day. So we'll have a fire in the fireplace tomorrow night and stare at the tree and the nativity and the reindeer at the base of the tree for an hour or two while snuggling on the couch.

I do love Christmas. :-)

Sorry the Cleveland Browns lost to the Steelers. We were rooting for them, too, but they are pros not college conference, so you may not care as much.

can any of the BushBOTS explain this?! [Global Crossing prosecution record]

We're relying on CBS to break the case, then try and convict them in a TV movie like they did with Enron tonight.

/sarcasm

Seriously, justice is very slow in this country and needs a complete overhaul. The fastest conviction I've seen in a long time was the guy sentenced to death in San Diego for killing the young girl after abusing her. I think this is down the priority list for a Prez who got into the WH with less purported votes than his soon to be forgotten opponent, with the economy and terrorism occupying the center stage.

V.P. Cheney and Team Bush have done great work including some heavy lifting, but there was only one Prez to travel the country and harp on the main themes and get us a Republican Senate. This is going to be a fun Congress to watch coming soon to a theatre near you!

And this is a good time to make a prioritized gripe list as the CIC expects to wrap up a couple major projects in the next few months and is looking for his next projects to put on his "vision thing" list.

God bless George W and thank you, Lord, for all the fun we are going to have this year in Congress.

Thank you, patriciaruth, fer responding to my query...I thought my question had made me invisible to a lotta folks I've come to know and admire.

"Seriously, justice is very slow in this country and needs a complete overhaul. I think this is down the priority list for a Prez who got into the WH with less purported votes than his soon to be forgotten opponent, with the economy and terrorism occupying the center stage."

I really don't expect Dubyuh to make Gary Winnick's prosecution fer his blatant crimes a priority or even a major concern, but obviously, the Department of Justice for which he is ultimately responsible is either too incompetent to do the job for which it was hired or else they are simply afraid to turn over the Global Crossing rock becuz they fear the maggot-infested roadkill hidden beneath said rock. Justice may take too long, but ending the investigation by giving Gary Winnick a clean bill of health is a TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE!!

"V.P. Cheney and Team Bush have done great work including some heavy lifting, but there was only one Prez to travel the country and harp on the main themes and get us a Republican Senate. This is going to be a fun Congress to watch coming soon to a theatre near you!"

I do not doubt this; however, allowing Winnick to go unprosecuted for his OBVIOUS CRIMINALITY is John Ashcroft's SHAME and must result in his replacement by someone who cares about Justice...Ashcroft obviously is not up fer the job!!

"And this is a good time to make a prioritized gripe list as the CIC expects to wrap up a couple major projects in the next few months and is looking for his next projects to put on his "vision thing" list."

Like I said, this shouldn't be Dubyuh's priority, but replacing Ashcroft with a competent individual who actually gives a damn about Justice must be!!

"God bless George W and thank you, Lord, for all the fun we are going to have this year in Congress."

Sincere Dittoes, my FRiend...however, if Dubyuh does not replace Ashcroft with someone willing and able to go after the perpetrators of domestic crimes as well as Dubyuh is going after perpetrators of international crimes, it's going to come back and bite US on the butt...possibly before the 2004 elections but definitely before the end of Dubyuh's second term!!

Thanks, Patty. Actually, the Browns loss was worse because they could have and should have won, but let a sure victory slide out of their grasp. It was terrible to watch for someone who's been a fan since the days of Jimmy Brown.

OSU, on the other hand was expected to lose to Miami, and when they won such a well-fought battle, it was fantastic.

Once things are in perspective.......which they rarely are, since, contrary to conventional wisdom, it is most certainly NOT just a game.......the Browns got into the playoffs in their 4th year as an expansion team, and that's pretty remarkable.

Next year they should be a real contender.

Granted Ashcroft is in desperate need of a spine.

But I keep remembering what Auntie Janet would be doing now and I feel a bit (but not much) better.
