Davis will instead attend Mass in L.A. Aides say logistics, not a dispute, are behind the change.

Inaugural events for Gov. Gray Davis will not include a traditional public worship service as planned, but officials said Monday that the schedule change has nothing to do with the Democratic governor's recent dust-up with a Catholic priest over abortion rights. Releasing the final list of events to be held Jan. 4-6, the governor's inaugural committee said Davis will attend Mass in Los Angeles with his family Jan. 5 rather than preside at an interfaith service at the Sacramento Convention Center.

A point, if you please!
"The governor, a Catholic who has long supported abortion rights, rejected Kavanagh's ultimatum and had the children brought to the Capitol, where he led a tour and presented them with gifts. Both sides accused the other of using the children as pawns."
What makes Grayout a Catholic if he is so comfortable and casual making decisions or holding beliefs contrary to the dogma of his faith?
What makes Lincoln Chaffee or Jim Jeffords (or maybe even Trent Lott) a Republican? Or Levin of Vermont an "Independent"?
Is it that these men simply declared themselves to be such and such?
Can I declare myself to be a unicorn?
Inquiring minds want to know.

As a libertarian, I believe that you can be anything that you wish to be.

And as a Catholic, I believe that if you are pro-abortion, you will rot in hell.

Your milage may vary.

Davis has pared the list of events for this inaugural to reflect the state's tough economic times. The 1999 inaugural included 13 events and cost contributors $3.7 million. The committee is raising only $1 million this year, Sanchez said, adding that the final price tag should come in below that

While this mother is busy whith his stupid and senseless so called "inaugural"( God knows for what,... he has'nt done zilch for California for what I am concerned),we are saddled with an excess of $34 BILLIONS and growing debt, thanks to this pompous asshole and his mignions Democrats in the State and Assembly.

By the time he is done with his stupid celebration, we will be delisted by the S&P to C-, for not been able to pay our debt as required.;
Again, thanks to Governor Low Beam for increasing the State Payroll by 45,000 new employees!

I am sooo mad I can not see straight...Grrrrr!

Grey Davis "worships" an anus.

An inaugural obviously is no place for his "religion." Ergo, the Governor is making the right decison in this case.

Davis is a total Schmuck.

May all his teeth rot except one, and on the one that survives may he have a toothache.

My governor, Gray Davis, is a Catholic? It's news to me, which says a lot about how much his faith means to him.

Down with Davis. Maybe he does not want to be denied Communion in public.

From The Catechism of the Catholic Church

2272. "Formal cooperation in an ABORTION constitutes a grave offense.
The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life.
'A person who procures a completed ABORTION incurs excommunication latae sententiae,'[CIC, can. 1398.] 'by the very commission of the offense,'[CIC, can. 1314.] and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law.[Cf. CIC, cann. 1323-1324.]
The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy.
Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society."

Governor Gray Davis is from New York, along with Boxer and many others in California that are not even from my state. My only hope is that they get the hell out of here, and return to where they came from.

Inaugural events for Gov. Gray Davis will not include a traditional public worship service as planned...

Davis has taken off the gloves in his "leadership position" in the culture war.

He and his California Democrat mob looked around after the recent national landslide by Republicans and felt like lepers. Isolated lepers.

Whereas Democrats in most states depend on concentrated parasite nests (cities) for most of the votes they need to win statewide elections, California has become such a horrific magnet for society's parasites and goofballs that it is in danger of becoming one gigantic parasite nest. This obviously would serve the Democrats well.

I believe that Davis likens himself to some modern day crusader, fighting against all odds against a nation of Christian conservatives. And he has now gone nuts.

In the next few years look for even more radical "family leave" and other anti-business legislation, full-blown gay marriage (no pun intended), completely socialized health care, laws against reference to Christianity on any public property, gay / lesbian clubs in every elementary school, and of course, taxes through the roof.

I can actually imagine a "leaving town" tax, a la Springfield's Mayor Quimby, LOFL. Ultimately, this may be California's only revenue source.

Man, I hear you. When I stop and think that there are slimy scumbags like John Glenn and Bill McBride and Gray Davis and Lee Harvey Oswald who were Marines, it breaks my heart. But then I remember that these guys are the radical exceptions. Ninety-nine percent of Marines would have nothing to do with these scumbags. But there's always going to be that 1%.

Semper fidelis,

But there's always going to be that 1%.

Ma men, do not get me wrong...I love the military, myself former one, what aches me is the fact that some of them forget the axiom of applying that military forthrightness into political arena and are becomming complacent with the daily political flavor, just because it is politically correct and do not want to offend anybody's feelings.

If the former military men can not point out what's right and wrong, black and white who else can do that anymore.Carrier politicians??/...do not hold your nose on that one...

I might be wrong but...when a politician/public servant with a proven military service as a background, i hold them more so responsible for doing the right thing than a plain jane, run of the mill politician.; You know why?...DISCIPLINE is the magic word!
