December 19, 2002 -- Watching the PBS program, Muhammed, I was struck by a thought. Why is this being aired during the Christmas season, within a week of the day, itself? What is the message sent when timing like this is utilized? What did it mean when on the program, a woman said, “Mohammed told his followers to not do to him what the Christians did to Jesus – make him holy.”...(snip)

Don't make a big deal. Jesus was probably born in July or August. His birth is not the big deal anyway. It is his death that we celebrate.

Every time I haved turned to PBS in the evening this week it has been about Islam. I was too mad to post but on Thanksgiving evening they also has a show about Islam. I normally donate every year and will no longer do so. I will write to them after seeing what was on tonight. I am livid.
I am quite sure we will see this on Christmas evening too.
I am completely disgusted.

I normally donate every year

Why on earth would you ever donate to a socialist institution like PBS. What have they ever produced that you think is worth watching, much less paying for?

Because I was an idiot. I have seen some things I enjoyed in years past. I thought I was doing my part. I will never send another dime.

Smart move. Watch the History Channel and the Learning Channel and Wings and Discovery. And buy the stuff they sell. Support independent commercial television.

And donate to your church and preach the gospel to the whole world.

Yeah, but what is PBS doing proselytizing for Islam? Do the producers at PBS want to live under a Taliban government? Are they nuts?

Thanks, Cindy! I take it you weren't drawn to Islam by the PBS program!

I just wrote to my local PBS station. I told them I was puzzled by their programming choices on Thankgiving and this week. Told them I will never send donation again.

Are they nuts?

Do you really want an answer? Or was that a rhetorical question?

I thought so. So, why do we pay these people to display their nutiness? Rhetorical question. The Congress isn't getting the message!

Possibly not the best choice of words? :^)

But it is a very multi-cultural statement. I am sure the Islamics can relate to celebrating death, so no-one is offended! -grin-

Mohammed told his followers to not do to him what the Christians did to Jesus – make him holy

If this is the case, that he said this, then many of his followers are a large splinter cult.

Look at how many are named after him. Executions for those who blaspheme Mohammed's name. Death threats against those who would depict Mohammed's appearance (even this documentary avoids doing so). Look at all of those muslims that offer a prayer in print(!) after typing his name.

His birth was a big deal because it was a fulfillment of prophecy. His death and resurrection were a bigger deal though.

The date is just an occassion to celebrate His birth (we could celebrate His birth every day). That some would choose to counter program during this time is insensitive (at a time when mainstream America is continually bombarded with messages to "be more sensitive"). Disney/Mirimax did the same thing when they planned to release the controversial film "Priest" on Good Friday.
