Apparently there were a lot of skits that AlGore completely rejected. They had to rewrite a lot of skits, one of which involved him being flatulent.

You bring up an interesting point - and, since AL Gore had time to design his own campaign logo, and micro-managed the FL MESS 2000, it doesn't surprise me that he may now have wanted everything rewritten on tonight's show. In which case, the sketches may be dreadful.
I can hear Al Gore now in a writer's meeting: "Can't you people add another two skits where I get to kiss Tipper? People love seeing me do that; they really do....One more sketch like that? Please?"
