Supposed assassins of the American diplomat Al-Qaïda members (official)
Saturday December 14, 2002 - 15h09 GMT
AMMAN, 14 déc (AFP) - a Libyan and Jordanian were stopped Saturday in Amman for the assassination in October in Amman of the American diplomat Laurence Foley and acknowledged to be members of network Al-Qaïda of Oussama Ben Laden, declared with the AFP the Jordanian Minister for Information Mohammad Adwan.
"the two men are Al-Qaïda members and were in contact with one of the high persons in charge for this network, Fadel Nazzal Al-Khalayleh, alias Abou Moussab Al-Zarkaoui, a criminal who had fled Jordan in 1999", the minister specified.
In his declaration with the AFP the minister identified the two men: "the principal defendant is the Libyan Salem Saad Salem Ben Soued, who shot at Laurence Foley. Its accomplice, Jordanian, Yasser Fathi Ibrahim, awaited it in the car. They have both summer stopped ".
"the two marked ones acknowledged the crime, being members of Al-Qaïda, (the terrorist network) of Oussama Ben Laden and being related to Zarkaoui", indicated the minister.
It added that the Libyan "had received a drive in an Al-Qaïda camp in Afghanistan. It came to Jordan a few months ago, with a falsified Tunisian passport ".
According to him, it is Zarkaoui which gave the instructions to the two men "to carry out operations against foreign embassies and diplomats, as well as members of the services of Jordanian safety".
"It provided them machine-guns, a revolver with silencer, of the grenades and of the teargases which were introduced illegally in Jordan and which were stored in a house rented in one of the suburbs of Amman", the minister added.
Mr. Adwan moreover indicated that Zarkaoui had tried "to forward to its two accomplices to Jordan of the rockets to use them in terrorist operations".
He paid a "first sum of 18.000 dollars to them on a total of 50.000 promised like payment to carry out these operations", added the minister.
The American diplomat, responsible at the international Agency for development (USAID), had been assassinated on October 28 of eight balls in the garden of his residence in Amman whereas it was on the point of getting into his car to go to his office.
If these two maniacs have really stopped summer then no punishment is too severe-I really like the summer.
Wow, good thing they weren't running around unmarked.
Gotta love Babelfish...sometimes ironic, blackly humorous thruths are revealed.
I hope that Jordan will extradite "it" and "it's accomplice" immediately. As much as I respect King Abdullah, I'll feel a lot better when we have them in our hands....no chance of escape, and we can give 'em the death penalty...preferably by bindind them, gagging them and stuffing their heads into the opened carcass of a dead pig until they SUFFOCATE. But the electric chair will do. We can film their executions and send a copy of the tape to Al Jazeera, the bin Laden Propaganda Network.
Did they mean on October 28 at 8PM in the garden ... ? I've read lots of French and never heard time referred to as "balles". Or -- I've got it? -- do they mean he took eight bullets (balles)?
Hope for better pics soon.
You're probably right but usually "de" means "of" not by ("par") or "with" ("avec").
Summer! Say it isn't so! :)
Ah, gotta love Babelfish.

They ALL seem to look like that. Adding credence to my personal theory that the ugliest apemen on Earth are purposely recruited to terrorist rings because it's OBVIOUS that things like THOSE are so desperate, those fictional 72 virgins are the only chance they will ever have of losing their OWN virginity.
I'm going out for a beer....I need to wash those images from my eyes.
That's the only way it makes much sense to me - I had to reach for the dictionary on that one ;)
