bingo... the college frat stuff on lott IS from his FBI files. Who leaked it to the reporter? Begalla, Carville, Hillary's favorite knee breaker, or a girlfriend of Janet reno?
Expect more FBI sh!t to come out on other folks for the next 18 mos. A SCANDAL a day will be attempted. Count on it.
Somebody better wake up and kick them in the balls, or this is going to get very very tiring very very quickly. I am already tired. Lot needs to just step aside, stay in the Senate and support a nongeriatric nutkicker whilst beleaguering her royal puke arse hilwhorey with her JEW HATING comments of the NOT SO LONG AGO fame.
Remember her "jew ba$tard" comments to friends?
Dems aren't race haters now are they?

i heard this today and the solomon, smith, barneyfrank day before yesterday i think. how does that old proverb go...it is often better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool, than to open it and prove that you are......or something close to that i think.
To: Paladin2b
I don't walk a plank or drink cool-aid for either party. I also won't be calling you a yankee blue blood because I could care less. How about just a plain ole' AMERICAN?!

You know, I haven't even thought of where they could have gotten that information. I think you could be right about that though. Kind of interesting since the Clintons have been so quite.

He's a disgrace and if the 'rats had any decency, they'd find a way to maneuver around him Pro Tem. Not to worry. He'll be replaced by the longest serving Republican in January. Not sure who that is.
Meanwhile, further evidence of Lott's cluelessness from the latest installment of his serial apology:
"I'm not about to resign for an accusation for something I'm not."
He wants this to be about racism, rather than his own political ineptitude.

Ted Stevens of Alaska, dean of the GOP caucus (elected 1968). But if Lott continues this much longer, we may not have that majority for long...

Do you think Lott is a racist?
If so, do you think he should step down as a senator?
To: Robert_Paulson2
I don't think that is correct re: the stance he took at Ole Miss to keep his fraternity segregated. No FBI file drop from Hill and Bill
Yesterday, someone posted an article from Time written by Karen Tumulty on this issue. The story was that Mr ___Johnson, a former president of CNN was also in the Sigma Nu fraternity at U of Georgia that year (62?). At a national fraternity meeting a vote was taken on whether to integrate the fraternity nationally. A northern college (Northeastern U) brought it up for vote, and Lott, as a representative to the national meeting voted no, and Johnson also voted no, to keep the peace, so he says.
Apparantley word reached Johnson, that in the ensuing years, Lott would tell this story and Johnson was pissed off about it. So he has taken the opportunity now to piss all over Lott. A pissing match, so to speak. (excuse the vulgarity - it somehow seems appropo) This information has been out there for years;Lott never tried to hide it, from what I understand.

Oh Lord! Was it that bad?
I couldn't bear to watch or listen, live. I'll try to listen on tape later.

For Lott to continue to serve as senate majority leader will be immensely hurtful to the Republican Party. I agree. But, being as Lott's position is a totally political one, it would benefit us more to have him ousted for something other than something for which Sharpton/Jackson would agree with.
To be clear: he should not be majority leader, but he shouldn't resign because of his statement. Bush should lean on him (and perhaps he lost his chance) and force him to resign through the RNC.

For the 100th time, this charade IS NOT ABOUT LOTT. Lott is irrelevant, even to the Dems, who know he'll roll over to them whenever they want. It is not about Lott, it is not about racism. It's about destroying the president and getting their RAT of choice into the WH in '04.

Not to worry. He'll be replaced by the longest serving Republican in January. Not sure who that is.Ted Stevens, the guy I remember most for his avid nosepicking during the impeachment "trial." He was sitting behind Lott and was digging away for a buried treasure -- I couldn't believe it!
Anyway, as for Sheets Byrd, the fact is that his fellow 'rat senators revere him and try to sweep his inexcusable KKK status under the rug. And I think that it's our duty to keep that out in the open and make them face it.
This past week, I've been involved in two "battles" on Usenet with left-wing wackos who make the most egregious claims and then run away when asked to put up or shut up.

Andrew Sullivan needs to understand that there is more than one way to skin a cat. For Lott to leave now would simply open up a fratricidal leadership contest within the Party.
Wait until Spring or early Summer. Then Trent goes. Just before the dog days. Or, better yet, you might want him to go in early Spring before Reconciliation bills come to the floor.
There's no reason for Trent to go now. Just put the word out to the other contestants (Frist, Nickles, McConnel, and Santorum) to keep their powder dry for mid-Spring and allow Trent to make his peace with the Civil Rights community, then step down as ML in the late Spring-before Reconciliation.
ONLY THEN DO YOU BRING PICKERING BACK TO THE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE, ONLY AFTER TRENT HAS DONE ABSOLUTION, PENANCE, AND HAS STEPPED DOWN.
Sympathy among his colleagues will be high. Pickering should get through with no problem, unless McCain pulls some of his usual bullshit.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

The man should have been ousted just for wearing the "roomy in the butt" jeans and that stupid cowboy hat with the feather at Bush's ranch. He looked like a drag queen's vision of John Wayne.
Hahahahaha! Isn't that the truth!

Very good, Grasshopper. Now you may go.
It never was about Lott. These Democrats are possessed with one of the great moral failings of our time: situational ethics.
What they do depends on the bind they're in: it has very little to do with right or wrong. They don't give a rat's ass if Byrd was a racist, nor do they care that Clinton raped Juanita Broderick and got away with it. All they care for is power.
These people would vote for Hitler over George Bush, such is their devotion to their partei.
So let's leave Trent alone for awhile. Give him a stay of execution. The time for the Senate Republicans to install Santorum or some other figure will come.

"(Frist, Nickles, McConnel, and Santorum)"
The first good short list I've seen. I'll take Santorum in a heartbeat.

If you were a liberal, would you want to face Santorum or Frist or would you want Trent Lott?
To: sinkspur
I guess the purists among us feel so superior. They have never put their foot in their mouth.
But then this is all about the impeachment.......and these are the same folks who are ridiculing Gore for not getting over the election he tried to steal.
