This entire press conference was about Trent Lott standing up to the politicallly correct liberals who wanted to overrturn and nullify the November 2002 elections. There is no other way to explain it.

I was flipping the cchannels as the press conference ended and some blow hard on MSNBC was saying this wans't enough. What more can a person do than what Trent Lott just did? They wanted him to resign is what they wanted and hope to nullify the Republican control of the Senate.

Like Lott or not, it is now time for the Republicans to "circle the wagons" and unify behind Lott. If any Republican tries to rip Lott apart now, they merely fall into the hands of the liberal agenda. You will then become "putty in the their hands".

Another question is why hasn't the entire State of North Carolina apologized for elected Thurmond? Why hasn't Lizzie Dole stepped down after praising Thurmond?

That's not the only "blast from the past" nonsense you'll find. If you look closely at some of the comments, you'll find the "they do it, too" defense, the "held to a different standard" defense, the "stand by your man" defense, and the "bigger fish to fry" defense. It was laughable coming from the Dems' party hacks during impeachment, but it's positively shameful when our own make the same tired "arguments."

All this Byrd, Condit, Hillary, etc. equivalency excuse-making can not obscure this fundamental fact. Those who trivialize Lott's words should read conservative black columnist Thomas Sowell's description of the indignities he personally suffered as a Marine during the Korean War from segregated public facilities. For Lott to continue to serve as senate majority leader will be immensely hurtful to the Republican Party.

Screaming, no. But ever since his handling of the impeachment, it has been an embarrassment to the party that an invertabrate such as him would be it's leader.
