I wonder if Microsoft will honor the GNU license and provide its source code free-of-charge...

If this pans out, and that's a big if, Microsoft has some kind of bastardized Trojan horse Linux in the wings that will be used to destroy the real Linux.

""Microsoft has some kind of bastardized Trojan horse Linux in the wings that will be used to destroy the real Linux.""

That was my first thought when I saw the headline. That's exactly what they are trying to do to Sun and JAVA.

Count on it, Gates and atty's have figured out a way around this if they are going to start offering Linux. My guess is: it will be a Winux that allows both Linux and Windows applications to run simultaneously on a Palladium box. The Linux piece will be open source but the interface will heavily involve the Fritz module and that's hardware.

I've just ordered Mandrake 9.0 and a removable hard drive. I know nothing about Linux, but I'm ready to get away from Microsoft. Please explain: What is "Penguin"?

Please explain: What is Penguin?

The Penguin's name is Tux. He's the Linux mascot.

Underestimating Bill Gates is like underestimating George W. Bush.

No one's misunderestimating Gates. I just find it shocking that Microsoft will offer proggies for Linux.

So, since people love to say that Linux-users/companies are communist/socialist, does Gates offering proggies for Linux make him a commie or socialist?

I wonder...
