Did you see voter fraud and what is the talk about exit polling and the possible outcome?

Like I said, things don't break along the lines you might expect around here. I saw a fair number of NRA caps at the Landrieu rally I went to, and while I couldn't read the wearer's minds, at least they weren't heckling.

Most LSU grads are stauchly conservative, and I would bet that Terrell would win them overwhemingly. Tulane grads are more liberal generally and thus mosr likely to vote for Landrieu. But most of the liberals come from the northeast and return there after graduation. The remainder of Tulanians, the home-grown variety, are pretty conservative as well.

I am actually more concerned about graduates of Loyola, a pseudo-Catholic institution which brainwashes young Catholics who go there into believing that it's OK to vote for a proabortion Catholic. I wouldn't send one of my kids to Loyola if they offered a full scholarship and a car and a house to boot!

Perhaps the NRA caps at the Landrieu rally merely show that voters are energized for this campaign. Voting out a U.S. senator in LA happens no more frequently than the return of Halley's comet -- once about ever 75 years. So if Landrieu wins, it means the Democrats' winning streak in LA elections for Senate will surpass the tenure of Halley's comet. Perhaps the NRA men were "plants" by the Landrieu camp to show its "diversity," a favorite word of the modern Democrat. The big advantage that Landrieu still has is the 66 percent Democrat voter registration.

I'm not sure how hunting season will play out. Hunters usually go out in groups, with their buddies. You'd think that of every 3 or 4 person group meeting to go out, at least one would be able to convince the other three to vote on the way in or the way back from their hunting trips...

They weren't plants. I knew most of them...if not personally, at least by sight. I'm not trying to be a naysayer here, or claim that Landrieu has a huge stealth following among Louisiana gunowners. Just saying that these guys were listening to what she had to say.

The NRA people at the Landrieu rally may also be union men and loyal Democrats --like the MI Rep. John Dingell, who is known for Second Amendment defense. So these men will probably be in Landrieu's camp -- perhaps "democracy" and "unions" trump other concerns.

It's just really hard to generalize about an institution that turns out 5000 or so graduates a year. To the extent that most LSU alumni are middle class, and white, I'll agree that they probably mirror that demographic. I think if you polled LSU alumni, Terrell would probably lead. But I think it's a mistake to assume that it would be an overwhelming lead.

There's also the "subway alumni" factor. Like Notre Dame, many of LSU's most passionate supporters have never set foot in an LSU classroom. Their political leanings may not track with that of the actual alumni base.

I'm sounding like a contrarian in this thread, but I'm just trying to point out that things are not nearly as cut and dried around here as some people are assuming.

Thanks for this info.....it will be interesting to see if there are any voter fraud occurrences in these areas......and then can be added to the watch list on the FReepers Against Voter Fraud thread.

I see LA dead Dems vote in alphabetical order as do ours in TX.

Football attracts white conservatives, as opposed to, say, soccer games. Many may be blue dogs, but we are trying to get them to vote for the party that best represents their ideology-- and we did in Georgia with great success.

Any white college football fans are part of our target group. Most of these people have no idea where Terrell graduated from college.

au contraire....The educational backgrounds of the two candidates has been the subject of discussion on LSU boards. Probably won't make much difference to most, but like someone else said, if it influences a couple of thousand voters...

Little things, even things that would be considered insignificant or even ridiculous, can swing a close election.

That said, I think Terrell wins, but I won't be surprised either way.

I forgot to mention Terrebonne (literally "Good Land"), which is Houma. I think it is very competitive and will likely split 50-50 in this Senate race.
If Terrell can split Caddo 50-50, she should win.

I think most of the LSU grads live in Houston. My friend told me the largest Alumnus club is in Houston, and we love all the LA transplants because they bring a real flavor to The Bayou City.

No one would assume that. Many hunters are members of labor unions, too. It's fine for you to be an LSU fan, and I'm sure you wish they were playing today. Still, the success of Ralph Reed in Georgia was getting these white conservative Democrats to finally vote Republican on election day for races lesser than president. We need a strong showing of conservative white Democrats to show up today because we have to play the odds that they will act like their Georgian cousins. There aren't enough Republicans in the state to send Terrell to the Senate.
