Here's a guess. Life is a guess for both Ratner and Schweitzer. Neither one of those cretins could find their a** with both hands if you spotted them nine fingers.

It seems to me that most commentatators here at FR believe that the "Real Bush Plan" is exactly what Ellen Ratner describes as tha "Real Bush Plan." No disagreement there.
However, even after years of being exposed to the Rat mentality, I am having trouble understanding the conclusions the Rats are almost universally espousing on Iraq. They agree Saddam has WMD, They agree Saddam is a beast, They agree Saddam brutalizes his own people and is a liar who has thumbed his nose at "the World Community" for 11 years......and......they are horrified that we may attack him. Instead, we must peacefully "negotiate" disarmament.
Here is my conclusion to explain this rank inconsistency....
The Dems believe that if Saddam remains in power, it will hurt Bush in the next election. Hence, they root fore Saddam to hang on to power. Simple as that....."If only Iraq could humiliate the U.S. on the world stage, we could win back the White House....Oh, and an economic depression would be nice as well."

These two need to get a life. Just because they don't like America's Elected President, George Bush, they feel free to spout things that they know nothing about.
Get over it, you will never be invited to security meeting and will never be party to all the evidence collected, so just cool your jets.
You can, like numerous others, continue to belittle OUR President and in the end, just the others doing the same thing, you will also be eating your words.

Actually, I think that Ratner has figured-out the probable chain-of-events pretty well. As a lefty/pacifist, her sources on this matter are non-existent (can you imagine Rumsfeld taking a call from Ratner? I can't either). She actually is using her brain this time.

I don't think this is a BARF alert article. I think it is an accurate description of Bush's plan. A pretty damn good plan, if you ask me.

I don't really have a problem with this analysis. Seems pretty close the mark as best I understand things. Ratner had her eyes opened real wide by 9/11. She's not quite the fool she was before.

However, even after years of being exposed to the Rat mentality, I am having trouble understanding the conclusions the Rats are almost universally espousing on Iraq. Actually, it is very simple. The Rats dont want another Republican success story. Just like Reagan won the Cold war, Bush is going to win the Middle East war.
I fully expect that 5 years from now, Iraq and Iran will be democratic, and the Palestinians will have a state of their own.
When this happens, the Jewish AND the Islamic vote will belong to Republicans in the same way that the Black vote belongs to the Rats. The Rats only care about one thing, that being Power.
Anything that Republicans do that could give them long-term success, they are against by default.

I think Bush has a plan, which I would like to share with you, my devoted readers. Wouldn't the singular 'reader' have been more appropriate than the plural 'readers'?
To: San Jacinto
Your exactly right, just listen to the Rats call C-Span in the mornings, and the Network anchor Rats, they are DYING FOR ANOTHER ATTACK, OR US HUMILIATION.
As noted in Wellstones "memorial", the Rats ONLY care about their PARTY, not their country or human life itself. They have the exact mentality of a Commie.
Bush is taking a HUGE political risk with Iraq, that's why I believe that the Administration is VERY afraid of what Sadaam has. (He could have chose to just fight the war on terrorism, and be politically safe)
We may have human sources in Iraq whose lives are in danger.
To: San Jacinto
apparently, ratner would rather saddam turn over his WoMD by driving them into DC and detonating them...
she admits that they probably have them but chastizes bush for wanting to stop him from using them... as a grandiose cuban missile crisis type of press conference...
oh the idiocy of the ratner and how can someone so stupid be a bureau chief...

I just hope Santa Claus has Electronic Counter Measures built into his sleigh Or at least an IFF beacon.
Anyway, Dec 8 has much more meaning. That's when we wake up and discover we have a new Senator in LA!

I know Ellen Ratner, and have gone toe to toe with her several times on national talk radio. The surprising thing about this article is that two-thirds of it is probably correct. Saddam will say that he has "no WMDs." And the US probably has "solid evidence of WMDs" in hand and ready to pounce. Where she goes off the reservation is assuming that this issue will go back to the UN, assuming that Hans Blix's Keystone Kops do find anything. The role of the UN in this matter is over. Whatever Blix finds, or doesn't find, whatever evidence we have independent of Blix, will be only window-dressing.
Such things will be presented as the reason why we have taken military action. No further decision of any kind will be sought from the UN (read: the French). That's why I expect the new and final war on Hussein to begin in late December or early January, at the convenience of the US and its few allies in this effort. (See first link, below.)

A BTT, Y'r Excellency...
Because at least then, the issue will go back to the Security Council with some glimmer of hope that the world can peacefully negotiate Iraqi disarmament.
What I cannot understand it the persistence of belief in this demonstrated failure. Negotiate with what? The UN's members are ignoring the sanctions and Saddam is ignoring the WMD prohibition. That is, after all, why we are in this position.
To: FreedomWarrior
Saddam doesn't call me with a daily count. "He never calls me anymore."
To: FreedomWarrior
RATner. Why do these "surrender is the best policy",liberals, call the action against Iraq, a war? The war began with the 911 attack on us, and will continue until the terrorist of the world are either dead or peacefied-Iraq is just one more battle of this war.
To: Constitutionalist Conservative
Sadam still calls Bush, but printing the names he calls him here, could get your posting priviliges suspended. THat kind of language is not allowed here, thankfully.
To: Maceman
"I think it is an accurate description of Bush's plan. A pretty damn good plan, if you ask me."
Agreed. Now for Rat-Dung...
Look at this loony excerpt: "And while I wholeheartedly support Blix's efforts and oppose this looming war, I also have to admit that these particular inspectors probably couldn't find their head and its attached body."
Ellen, honey, why in the world do you support an inspections effort which is, you admit, a joke?
Could it be because Blix isn't there to find anything; rather he's there to run interference for Russia, France, and their proxies in the United Nations?
The question of whether Saddam has weapons of mass destruction is a serious geopolitical issue and leftists like Ellen Ratner are treating it like it's just one more evil, right-wing conspiracy designed to let Exxon and Mobil move into the Euphrates valley. Nothing more than political patronage. It's sick.
To: BaghdadBarney
It is sick, but this thinking lost the senate for them. A little more of this "we don't have an enemy" BS and we will have the white house long after Bush ha been term limited out.
