Hours before the City Council assembled yesterday to raise property tax rates nearly 18.5 percent, Mayor Michael Bloomberg hinted anew that personal income taxes may rise next year to reduce a massive budget gap.
State lawmakers are ready to block that move, leaving the full income-tax burden on residents.

Rudy didn't get him. Bloomberg switched registration and purchased his primary slot, defeating the heroic Herman Badillo, and lucked out in the general because his Dem opponent (Mark Green) was such a loser that he landed his spot at City Hall.
This is a debacle.

Having said that, Bloomberg would never have had the support of the NYState GOP without Pataki.
Pataki liked the idea of a self financing candidate last year because the state party could save the cash for his reelection effort this year.

"New York's Best Interest"
"Cut taxes and throw away our future"
New York's best interest is in putting money into the hands of people that EARN it, getting rid of the idiotic rent control, and killing public works project that do nothing but contribute to the death of a state's and the country's economy.

Is this guy a Dem? "Raising taxes" seems to be their mantra. If this guy is a republic, he needs to go back and review his Republican party's mantra!

I will say this:
If my taxes go up one nickel, and the GOP decides to hold its convention here in 2004, then I'll be voting straight Libertarian, Conservative, or Right to Life tickets for the rest of my life.
You can mark my words on that one -- Are you listening, President Bush?

Yes. BloomingIdiot switched parties in order to run. He used to be an Independent. However, Rudy endorced him.
I remember Rudy holding Bloomie's hand high in the air on New Year's Ever after Bloomie won the election. Little did Rudy or any of us know............
