FReeper ohioWfan has sent me the following message ...
"After an intense struggle to breathe that lasted more than 24 hours, Dad died this morning of 'Monster pneumonia.' His pain is over. He has been reunited with my mom and sister, his parents and all his siblings.
We have suffered the great loss of a great man, and a good friend. We will be together again some day, but the pain is enormous. We will be celebrating a Memorial Service for him on his 86th birthday on Sunday.
God is our comfort and support."
Please join me in offering prayers of support, strength, and peace for ohioWfan and her family.

I can only smile. "What a friend we have in Jesus." We can "sing Happy Birthday" at a funeral! : ) "we do not want you...... to grieve like the rest of men who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him...."

Continue in prayer for you Ohio!

I am reminded so much of my dear father-in-law who left us much too soon ..... he was only 67. He had been suffering from several different conditions for several years. His funeral was truly a celebration that his pain and suffering had ended and he had gone Home. We sang joyfully at the service .... through our tears, which were for
us and the big void that had just come to our lives. Dad's favorite song was "I'd Rather Have Jesus" and it was so comforting to know that his wish was now fulfilled.
I still miss him and it's been over 22 years ..... but the memories are priceless and the knowledge that he's with his blessed Savior is so very dear.
Prayers continue for you and your family, sweetie! Prepare yourself for a very tough holiday season but know that the Lord will be with you and give you strength.

To quote part of the song playing for me right now....
And it hurts so
That something so strong
Someday will be gone, must say goodbye
Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye
But the love you give will always live
You'll always be there every time I fall
You offered me the greatest love of all
You take my weakness and you make me strong
And I will always love you 'till forever comes

Thanks again for your kind words of comfort.
kayak.....I know it's going to be a rough Holiday season. Praise the Lord for other family members to share it with.
Mostly I'm just tired........really tired.
To: ohioWfan
I bet you are tired-inside out. It is an emotional rollar coaster of high hills and low valleys that takes time to even out. You know we are all here-and understand. Get some rest-there is a big hole around this place when your name is missing. God Bless you and all of your family.

All of these wonderful messages of condolence speak highly, not only of the nature of Freepers, but also of you and the impact you have had on FR, ohioWfan. May God continue to hold you up during this time of loss, and may the memory of your father never fade.

Dear Faith and Republic.........You two beautiful people.......sisters in Christ....... are two of the reasons I am here at FR.
Thank you so much for your kind words, and your prayers which are heard by our Father in heaven with Whom we share a very personal relationship.
This is indeed a roller coaster, but I know where the ride ends!

You have a special son, OWF, to be able to speak from his heart like that at the service. And to sing "Happy Birthday" to your dad - that, too, brought tears to my eyes.
I'm glad you have had lots of family and friends to share this with, and to reminisce with. These intense emotions and the physical stress take more out of us than we realize, at least until the service is over and everyone goes home. I really think it's God's grace that shields us from our exhaustion so we can make it through the days leading up to the memorial service, and then the service itself. Afterward, we discover how drained we really are.
I'm praying for strength and comfort for you, and that you will be able to get some rest and take your time about resuming activities.
