#ALERT# Last Days for Land Grab!
# ALERT # ALERT # ALERT #
The Endangered Species Land Grab bill, S.990, has only one or two more days
to make it through the Senate. HOWEVER, the leftwing environmentalists are
now coming out of the woodwork to try to push it over the finish line!!!
*** GOOD NEWS - YOUR EFFORTS ARE WORKING SO FAR ***
******* S. 990 HAS BEEN HELD UP *******
### HOWEVER ### It is NOT over yet!!!!!!! ###
The United States Senate is expected to go out of session today, Wednesday,
or at the latest on Thursday. Three Senators have put a "hold" on S.990,
meaning it cannot go to the Senate floor until those "holds" are removed.
Due to Senate rules, those Senators names are NOT public - but we have
three of them to thank!
BUT - in the hectic closing days, deals are cut behind-the-scenes and
things can change quickly!!! PLEASE contact your Senators offices, and
those below also ONE MORE TIME. Don't take the holds for granted.
We must still try to get more holds.
****** ACTION ITEMS BELOW ****** ACTION ITEMS BELOW ******
PLEASE - ONE - MORE - DAY - WE'RE ALMOST THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
### WARNING ### TWO of the most prominent advocates of CARA - the
Condemnation and Relocation Act - came out TODAY in support of S.990, the
"Son of CARA."
FIRST, National Wildlife Federation announced that they fully support the
VAST expansion of the Endangered Species Act powers included in S. 990, as
well as the $50 million per year for land acquisition.
SECOND, the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies sent out an alert
saying S.990 is moving to the Senate floor and they support it just like
they do CARA. But here's the best part - they claim that S.990 "has the
support of many stalwart supporters of wildlife management including
Chairman Hansen of Utah." This is the same Jim Hansen who pushed S.990
through the House at 2:35am after naming a trail and a visitor center after
himself - which will cost $13 million taxpayer dollars!
THREE REASONS WHY S.990 MUST BE STOPPED:
## FIRST - ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT. It creates an entire new category of
land use control within the Endangered Species Act. Currently, species can
be listed as "endangered species" or "threatened species." S. 990 creates a
new category called "species at risk" which has an even lower threshhold for
plants and animals being listed, and property being taken by regulatory
fiat!!!
AND THEN, the bill hands over up to $150 million per year for
environmental groups to go out and find more species. All this money
provides a huge INCENTIVE for the enviros - the more species they
"discover," the more money they can make!
S.990 does NOT address the fraudulent scientific data being used to claim
that species are endangered, it does NOT address compensating property
owners whose land is rendered useless by an ESA listing.
## SECOND - LAND ACQUISITION. S. 990 has over $50 million per year for
land acquisition, with no protections against eminent domain proceedings.
AND - there is a special prize for the huge land trust, the Trust for
Public Lands - a $9 million payoff to purchase land in New Hampshire, when
the property will cost less than $8 million!!
## THIRD - GRANT MONEY TO ENVIROS. Environmental organizations are
entitled to feed at the taxpayer trough in every part of S.990. There is
even a NEW LOOPHOLE created that exempts some grants from being reported
to Congress by the taxpayer-financed National Fish and Wildlife Foundation!
This is a DREAM BILL for the enviros and animal rights activists - it
finances our enemies!
