[history]
The U.S. Supreme Court denied Monday an unusual request by a California inmate to impregnate his wife through artificial insemination.
The justices left intact a federal appeals court ruling that inmates do not have a constitutional right to procreate.
The action dashes the parental hopes of William Gerber, 42, who wanted to ship a special overnight package to his wife, Evelyn -- via a sperm bank -- containing a semen sample. He was willing to pay all costs.

He is serving a three-strikes sentence of 111 years to life for firing a gun into his television set. It's a shame that this towering intellect won't be able to reproduce.

OK, here's the thing. Practical application of eugenics would PROSCRIBE the right to reproduce by convicted criminals, and should not be restored except as a condition of a full pardon. There may or may not be a genetic component in anti-social behavior, but no kind of reward for criminal activity should be available to the miscreant, once a court of law has declared the guilt of the accused party. This should be held out as a reward for rehabilitation.

He is in prison on the three strikes.....for shooting his tv? Goodness gracious, is it a crime to shoot one's own tv?
To: Conservababe
They probably are neglecting the fact that someone was standing next to the TV when he did it.

So, why is firing a gun into your TV illegal in Kalifornia?
What a f***ed-up state! And I should know...I'm in Maryland!
To: Conservababe
Only when it goes through three victims before entering the TV.
