Three men have been charged over an alleged plot to release cyanide gas on the London Underground tube network.
The men are north African muslims said to belong to a group linked to al Qaeda.
The alleged plot was foiled after the group was infiltrated by MI5 agents in a six month operation.
The men are thought to be of either Tunisian or Moroccan background and belong to a group called the North African Front, said to have loose connections with Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network.
One of the men is aged 21, the second 33. The third is in his mid 30s.
They appeared at Bow Street Magistrates' Court earlier this week and were remanded in custody.
Details of the hearing were not released by Scotland Yard at the time and have only just emerged.
The three men will re-appear in court on Monday.

One always wonders what the Jerries, the Japs, and the Nordic countries are thinking about all this activity. No need to discuss South America, Canada, Central America or any country in continental Africa. Those clowns cannot even keep their currency stable!

I am thankful. But living with terrorism is nothing new - just the savagery of this is new.

I agree that they could not stoop any lower. I hope this incident will do some good in that more of the world will see the need to exterminate the toweliban. I am glad that you are Ok, and that MI5 was on top of things! Keep us posted and stay safe!
I know that feeling, what with living in the bullseye here in lower Manhattan. I'm still not used to seeing the armed military guys in Penn Station, Grand Central Station, etc. I try to gauge the real level of threats by how many are there at any one time.
You'll eventually get used to it. The IRA was a fact of life here for so long that Londoners are used to terrorist threats.
I don't believe New Yorkers are any less resilient than we are.

Seems like these guys have a general plan to kill folks in any subway system that they can pull it off in.

True, but after watching the whole horror of 9/11 happen literally right in front of me and then running for my life, I still get a little jumpy from time to time. And I really do worry about all our friends in Britain. Admittedly, I don't know too much about the IRA (other than the fact that I always hated their guts), but I don't think they go for the kind of overwhelming terrorism like the islamofascists do.
Not a good idea. the "Virginia ham" will not taste the same after the pigs and hogs consume these Islamic animals. The entire industry will have been contaminated.
