Observations on a dying UK

Like countless others before me, who were born American but developed a love for British tradition, culture, and literature, I truly care about what happens not only in the US but in the UK as well. Over these last three years I traveled an average of four times a year to the UK for personal reasons. Each and every time I observed new inroads of decay and dutifully sounded the alarm to family and friends. England, the England that we know and love, is rapidly being destroyed from within by a combination of factors, some of which are planned, and others accidental. Let me say first and foremost that whatever formerly “benign” socialist engineering the UK might have had has turned virulent in the five years under Tony Blair and New Labour. F. A. Hayek, in his book, The Road To Serfdom, sounded the alarm as early as 1945 when he saw the direction England was headed. Hayek was at one point a socialist and he knew what was being planned. Instead of that “jackboot on the face of humanity forever” that Hayek theorized, Blair is making sure his incompetent socialist dictatorship has designer labels on the heels.

However, the effect is the same. Socialism is grinding down the populace on a daily basis. The destruction of the UK is so noticeable now because Blair and company actively despise the country they run. They are products of Oxford and Eton where anti-British sentiment by ivory tower professors is just as ingrained as the anti-Americanism of our college classes. Couple that anti-British self-righteousness with class snobbery and insatiable greed and you’ll get the current Prime Minister and his lawyer wife. The low-level Scottish thugs he surrounds himself with in his cabinet are actually wrecking historical revenge on England for past events hundreds of years old.

Can you give us a rough estimate of the demographics across the pond? Are "whites" the minority or is this article stretching it?

Whites are NOT the minority in Britain. Yes, there are certain areas in certain cities in which that's true, but I dare say it's the same in many American cities (been to downtown Detroit lately? ;)).

Britain is not dead, contrary to popular belief. Nor is it resting like a Norwegian Blue parrot. ;)

I think it is a case of bad news travels fast.

You make good points regarding what to most of us seem unjust practices, but we are in the middle of a Labour administration. If the Conservatives win the next election things should improve.

The Brits sealed their fate by not sending the monarchy packing years ago.

I'd hate to live in a country where I was a "subject" and not a citizen.

I have lived most of my life in New York and Florida. Second Generation Latinos DO NOT watch Spanish-language television. Only first generation immigrants do.

Besides, I'll take the Cubans and Colombians I lived among in South Florida over the Arabs I live among now.

This article touched on something that I believe is at the root of much of liberalism: an elitist disdain for the middle class. The free market system, along with limited, representative govt, has allowed for large numbers of people to rise in socioeconomic status. Furthermore, this new group of middle class people have created a political bulwark against despotism and socialism.

The elites, especially in Europe, have never accepted this development. They still believe that they should rule by a form of devine right. They regard this new middle class as crude usurpers. They view the philosophy of limited govt as and outrageous limitation on their devine power to rule. They view the economic prosperity of the middle class as a vulgar trespass on their right to be more prosperous than everyone else in society.

Thus, the elites have embarked on policies designed to smash the middle class and put them in their place. Masses of bureacracy are created to prevent entrepreneurs from starting businesses and becoming wealthy. Mass immigration is permitted to create a new voter class that will respect the divinity of the elites (and create a perpetual electoral majority for the elites). Multiculturalism is instituted to intimidate the middle class adults and to propagandize middle class children with self-hatred.

All of the political and economic progress made by the West since the Renaissance is anathema to these elites, because they long to be the Lords of the Manors in the new Socialist Dark Ages.

Have you read "The Abolition of Britain?" When I was last over a few months ago I bought the UK edition and read it on the plane on the way back here. I've noticed the shifts over the years highlighted in the book and by the author of the above article. We've got a friend (actually my wife's God mother) down between London and Brighton, she's about 80 years old with crisp recollection. To hear her tell of the changes especially since WW-II is downright depressing. I often wonder if all Rightists throughout the English speaking world ought not formally band together and coordinate an international restoration of our respective countries, much in the same way the Left have done during the 20th century. Sometimes I feel I have more in common with true Rightists in the UK, Canada, Australia and, even India for that matter, than I do with so called "moderates," and, most assuredly, Leftists here in the US. Trying times indeed!

In all fairness, Old King George and his lobsters had their collective a$$ handed to them in war of 1776 and even you have to admit that the Brits got a wee bit of help from the same Yanks in taking on Hitler in WWII.

I hope you are right in your judgement of the Brittish character.

Sadly, my guess is when (not if) the time comes to show some fight, the new government sponsered mentality of the sensitive, kinder, and gentler "unarmed and no excuse of self defense" Brittish Subjects will discover that once a wolf has his fangs and claws removed, he ceases to be a wolf...... except in his mind.
