On the other hand, this story comes from Nigeria, land of the scam.
Blessed are they that do not see and yet believe.
The real suckers are those that see and still do not believe.
I am currently in possession of 250 million dollars in gold and bearer bonds, but unfortunately my government has restricted all banking negotiations making it impossible for me to move my finances out of Liberia to a safe country.
I am seeking as many blithering American idiots as I can dupe into sending me their names, credit card numbers and and social security numbers so that I may steal their life savings and laugh all the way to my Bahamian hideaway.
Please reply with your telephone and fax information so that I can run up millions of dollars in long distance debt that I will charge to you.
Also, since I have been recently resurrected from the dead, please send all the cash you have immediately available so that I can blow it on hookers and drugs.
Your's from Africa, Land of the Living Dead, Nai'
"Do not trust every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they belong to God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." (1 John Chapter 4 Verse 1)
Same here in the States.
The PT Barnum theory continues to be proven time and time again. Today on the news was the story of the gal in New York who tryed to live the NY lifestyle waaaaay beyond her means and got into huge credit card debt buying $500 handbags and such. So she puts up a website documenting her irresponsible behavior and asks for peoples sympathies, in the form of cash, and guess what, thus far the website has garnered $14000 from donors(idiots). There is a sucker born every minute!
BTW....is there a quick-learn site available on how to build your own website? Thanks.
"Yea verily, I saw a multitude of souls, many of whom had millions in spare and untraceable change left over from Nigerian Government oil deals. I say unto you I shall require the number of your checking account, whereupon and inwhichupon I shall place these untraceable funds for a few weeks. Then I shall require you in good faith to write me a cheque for ...o ...say 85% of the amount I placed in your accounts. O yeah and verily, your Amex number would be handy so that I may buy Travellers Cheques for that deposit with these untraceable funds. Amen. Alleluia"
A passage from the Apochrypha of Slezipetrodolla of Lagos and Las Vegas, Nigerian Holy Man.
I ran into Slezi and 4 other Nigerian Holy Men on a freeeway outside of Tampa last year. They stopped short to offer me the opportunity to add an insurance settlement to their church coffers. Call it a missed opportunity to bump into true holiness.
Seriously though, I read a book some years ago that told several stories like this which occurred in the Phillipines. While I agree that it is pretty incredible, we have to believe that if Jesus raised Lazarus and others from the dead and God raised Jesus from the dead, then His power can work through His people to raise the dead. He said to His disciples that "greater works than these shall you do because I go to my Father."
The doctor who pronounced him dead speaks on the video, remarking, "I'm starting to believe in God [chuckle]." He was crudely embalmed and kept in shanty morgue with no air, with the undertaker declaring the man was dead.
He also went to hell and saw the torment and the agony of the damned, besides seeing the splendor of Heaven. Heaven is real, and this gentleman's story sounds legit here.
Yeah, seems like every couple weeks or so, I get an email offering me 15 million U.S. dollars if I will be of help to someone from that country.
Whoever is sending out those emails obviously take the words of P.T. Barnum to heart.
