I've been debating whether or not to post this as I don't intend to open up a religous discussion on this thread. However, election time is drawing near, and our liberties are at stake. I've heard repeated calls on FR to get out and vote. I encourage that as well. Many have said that this election will depend on which party does better with their "get out and vote" methods. We must certainly do our best.
However, I would like to take it a step further. This election may be beyond our control, but we need to recognize that there is one who is sovereign over all.
I say this to suggest that we should be offering up a petition of prayer from now until the election is finalized. I also suggest fasting as a sign of the importance of this issue to yourself. I've started my fast. If you agree to pray and/or fast with me over this, reply to this message with an acknowlegement. I believe if enough people agree to do this diligently, great things will happen.

Is God in control of the outcome, or of our freewill?

My prayer for voters and candidates in this election: For thou [art] my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me. - Psalms 31:3

I don't have any people, I recently moved, so I can't vote. I was just concerned about the potential damage of cosmic proportions if different factions pray for there side to win.

I know I'm gonna asborb my share of flames on this thread, but it just throws me when I see these people who think that it's some kind of karaoke night where prizes are awarded according to crowd noise.

They just recently came out with a study that has the medical profession taking into account the spiritual beliefs of the patients. There is medical evidence that prayer works when it comes to recovery, survival, positive attitude, etc...The doctors and nurses are saying "prayer works" even when they have not believed in God...they have been witness to miracles. Something to take into account...

"They just recently came out with a study that has the medical profession taking into account the spiritual beliefs of the patients" Larry Dossey, MD has written a series of books on just this effect. I'll see if I can find some titles.

Why do people who have no faith have this need to come in and interupt a well intentioned thread to those who have faith in a higher power? Just be curteous to those who practice a faith and move on.

I don't believe God picks sides in an election.
To: Libertarian4Bush
"So who gets the answer they want?"
Only God is privy to that information, but it would seem unlikely that his answer will please Satan or his admirers.

You should welcome their need to be curious...they might learn something. Those with faith should not live in glass houses. Questions are great...that means people are curious.
Apathy and indifference is the worst. Actually, when someone shows anger towards a faith...they are closer to crossing over than not.
