Friday I saw a Christian program, called "The Gravedigger" on local TV. The Christian host had Sen Cleland as his guest. I only saw part of it, but he was portraying Sen Cleland as a man to vote for.

I wrote to the host telling him how disappointed I was in seeing Sen Cleland on his show. We Christians were praying for Cleland to lose, and here he was promoting him. I told the host Sen Cleland voted FOR partial birth abortion, and he did not represent a Christian's position.

The host did write me back... defending his position, as trying to reach out to the democrats, as a Christian.

I found that to be a very lame excuse, and told him so.

Just 3 days before the election... and that Christian program was hosting Cleland! So disappointing!

An Answer to Your (Post # 92)Question...?

Why Was Clinton Elected Twice?

To show US the Extreme Depravity and SIN that "We"... The USA has fallen into!

That's Why, and It Worked!

GO...REPUBLICANS!

THIS ELECTION IS ALL ABOUT...JUDGES And Our COURTS!

WE NEED GODLY JUDGES TO OVER TURN ROE vs. WADE, and TO MAKE RIGHT DECISIONS INTERPRETING THE LAW, NOT LEGISLATING FROM THE BENCH...From The SUPREME COURT Down!

Thanks for the comment. I hope your child is better- I've spent a lot of time in hospitals, as patient, and worried observer.

BTW, if FR has overload or other problems, base camp is set up here:

No of course not, but you came across as ridicueling us, because of our belief.

well, I certainly didn't mean to. I worry about Christians sometimes - to me, thinking that tomorrow is the penultimate battle between good and evil would certainly cause more stress-induced insomnia than englihtenment and peace, y'know?

Just curious, presuming you do actually approach God from time to time, are you saying you never ask Him for anything? I'm not talking "please God, let me win the lottery", but for someone's healing or something like that.

I don't approach God. at least not in any way that I'm aware of. it's probably been about 8 or 9 years.

Its not what I saw that turned me to God and Jesus... It was a moment in my life... Most of the time, thats what it is... Sometimes, its a miracle. Take for example, I know someone who sold drugs and was caught... He had to go to the city he was dealing and face a sentence (he plead guilty). Well, in the meantime, life changed him, people around him gathered and offered prayer. His wife was due in November... He turned to God in a way that would be pleasing to him...

Long story short, this person was being told 1 year minimum in jail and possibly 3 years max... Well, through what I believe to be by prayer only, God effected the outcome and gave this man only 6 months house arrest and 3 years probation. The case before this guys, he had the same charges and got 1 1/2 years... Take what you want from it but this guy gets to spend his time with his just born child and go to church as a family... Its a good story and I give credit to God.

what drives me nuts is that an hour of research could turn up 10 similarly compelling cases where mercy wasn't applied. and I'm not trying to say "where is your god now" so much as we notice the exception because it is the exception.

I can give you my take on prayer as a Christian. Prayer is not about getting God to do something for us, but about building our relationship with our heavenly Father. And how can we do that without sharing everything that's in our hearts? He wants us to share even things others might find silly, like "Wow, God, I really want to win that game tomorrow." But of course, we can't just say that and walk away. We have to wait and give Him time to communicate with us. For the most part, our heavenly Father doesn't scream - He whispers.

Prayer bump.........and in the end it is God who is in control and who I trust and from where my liberty and freedom truly come by His will.

Thanks for that passage of scripture. It is comforting to know that God is in control, because...well, frankly, I shudder to think what the world would be like if our fates were in the hands of the power-hungry bureaucrats in Washington!

That being said, there is a sobering thought in all of this. If God is indeed in control, He is just as able to punish us by giving us a leader we deserve as He is to bless with a leader we don't deserve.

I believe its because he truely gave his life to God... Not some false talk... He truely has changed before my very eyes in the past 6 months... Now I guess I cant honestly say I know whats in his heart, but I do know God does and this man was rewarded for it.

Its the exception because so many deny God in their hearts. The exception to the rule indeed per Gods word.

Its more than prayers. Its about family, love, understanding and centering life around God... Without these vital ingredients, you might as well prayed to God for the Buckeyes to win the national championship.

Answering prayers doesnt mean a "yes" either... he will say no too.

"well, at the slight risk of starting an ideological debate, is this just the sort of situation where if "we" don't win tomorrow, it's just rationalized as part of god's plan for us? that we're not ready yet? or not deserving?"

Sometimes God say's no. Like any loving parent God the father knows whats best for his children / creations

imagine all your life you think there is no God and you die and find out you were right what have you lost? not a whole bunch I would suggest

now imagine all your life you think there is no God and you die and find out you were wrong what have you lost? everything
