DC Chapter Freep of Bill Clinton 11/1/2002-Report
Free Republic | 11/1/2002 | staytrue

Posted on 11/01/2002 9:39:42 PM PST by staytrue

I arrived at the Jericho church at about 4:45 pm. I noticed a black man erecting some 8 ft. by 4 ft. Ehrlich/Steele signs at the intersection near the church where Clinton and Townsend were to appear. He also put some small Ehrlich/Steele wire signs in the ground. I thanked the man for doing a good job and I planted myself near the Erhlich signs, with a folding chair, 5 signs and small spotlight.

A pleasant young man came by and stuck in the ground a lot of Townsend/Larsen signs. He said he never took down any Ehrlich signs and I replied that I never took down any Townsend signs and we both agreed that free speech was important. He then warned me to be careful as "the hard core supporters" would be there and he wished me well and departed.

I sat comfortably in my chair for the next hour and a half, rotating my signs which said, "Clinton sells pardons", "Townsend is not ready", "Townsend hires hispanish", "Making a football, Townsend is a joke", and "It's War Emblem, Not Warmonger".

Freeper Trueblackman stopped by and we had a nice chat. He said he went in and the church was half empty and that a lot of the cars had DC and Virginia tags which I took as good news. It gets dark early and I could not see people's reaction to my signs, but I hope I had some effect. The traffic died down and we left about 6:30.

Okay, so this was not a great freep. But I thought it should be recorded that even though it was windy (about 15-20 mph), cold (about 45 F) and slightly drizzly, when Bill Clinton was in our area, someone from the DC chapter of Free Republic was there to "greet" him. After all, we do have some traditions to uphold.

For those readers who are unfamiliar with Townsend's continuous verbal gaffes, I thought I should explain my signs. After the Ravens won the super bowl, she went on the radio and said she was so happy that after they (NY Giants) "made a football" (scored a touchdown) she was proud that "we came right back and made another football". She then went to Pimlico for the 2002 Preakness and referred to the Kentucky Derby winner "War Emblem" as "Warmonger". She also is on the record as saying, "We should hire more people who speak hispanish".

She also has introduced her running mate, Admiral Larsen as "Ambassador Lawton" and she recently said that she did not want seniors to chose between paying for prescription drugs and "putting heat on the table".

Thank you for being there. We will be FReeping Clinton and his horde of Rats in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on Sunday afternoon. This will be the first official Arkansas FReep. We're hoping for a good turnout, but everybody is very busy with the election. There will be a report following.

You did fine--exceedingly fine. We're proud of your efforts. We need to Freep the Creep until he and his wife are in Leavenworth for their crimes against this country.

Thanks for the effort--it takes a special kind of courage to do this by yourself.

BRAVO....good for you.....and it was so nice to learn that the church was not completely full!

BTW it always amazes me that the RATs run to the Black churches just before every election......they have no concern for 'separation of church & state"....LOL

You did great!

I'm sure folks saw you and your signs as they drove by. Thanks for getting out there.

I had a day from hell at work. There was no way I could leave early.

Great job on the FReep! :)

Do you have some sources for those KKT gaffes? I'd like to throw them in the faces of some leftists who mock Bush for gaffes -- even things he doesn't say.

Mochas Gracias (hope my hispanish is working), True, this is the first I'd heard of Townsend's gaffes. The lamestreams certainly told me all about Dan Quayle's spelling problems, but nothing of this (and they wonder why talk radio/cable/internet news continues to erode their market).

After the Ravens won the super bowl, she went on the radio and said she was so happy that after they (NY Giants) "made a football" (scored a touchdown) she was proud that "we came right back and made another football".

"Made a football" made my week!

Church half empty, you say? With Clinton as the guest of honor?

Hmmmm...very interesting.

It was a great FReep. You didn't see any of "The Dripper's" supporters outside waiting for him.

The people coming and going to it saw you and perhaps it'll give them some reason to re-evaluate their support.

Otherwise, all they see is, "Everybody loves Bubba:, which is NOT true.

BTW it always amazes me that the RATs run to the Black churches just before every election......

For every black person that votes Republican, Bill Clinton burns down a black church.
