CANABILISTIC VULTURES; THE PAUL WELLSTONE STORY MARK A SITY 10/29/02
It seems the new motto for the DNC is; "No corpse too fresh, no corpse too old, no corpse too closely related. If it with strengthen us we will feast." Even profiting from their own dead isn't beneath them, as the Sen. Wellstone story attests. Before the flames were even out at the crash site, the left was searching for a candidate that had a chance of stepping into the race and winning. I cannot fault them for that, given that Election Day is so close. Unlike the NJ scam, this was (as far as anyone credible can determine) a legitimate accident (even though liberals seem to have a bad track record with flight). They did need a candidate and had to find one.
However, after they seemed to select a candidate; they have refused to make it official, at least to date. I can understand suspending the campaigning until after the funeral; however this silence about who the official candidate will be leaves the Republican opponent in a bind. He can no longer campaign against Sen. Wellstone; to do so would really be in bad taste since the man, his wife, and his daughter suddenly died. Besides, Mr. Wellstone is no longer in the race he is a Senate candidate with a mystery opponent. While Mr. Coleman, the Republican is trying to figure out how to proceed with his campaign that he put on hold out of respect, the Dems know who they are running against. Mr. Coleman does not. He suspects he will be running against Walter Mondale, but doesn't know for certain. He cannot prepare an ad against his opponent a week before the election, because he doesn't know who his opponent will be. The Dems however, are not operating under this same disadvantage and can even use the same ads that Sen. Wellstone was using! It is quite possible that Mondale was suggested just as a distraction, while the real candidate is being prepared and groomed. Perhaps the real candidate, Mondale or not, will not be announced until the day before the election. This would really hinder Mr. Coleman! For all we know, the real candidate could be none other than Bill Clinton! Wouldn't that make for a nice November Surprise?
Meanwhile, while the Dems are plotting and scheming on how to best use this fresh corpse, Republicans are barred from even bringing up the voting record of the implied candidate! When Newt tried to do so, just to bring up the facts on Mr. Mondale on a weekend TV show, the obnoxious one, James Carville, stared screaming (ok, that's the only way he "communicates"; I really feel sorry for his wife!) that it was a vicious personal attack; implying that he was attacking a man who just died (ok, hard to tell with him, but ). So, now it is an attack on the dead to list the implied replacement's voting record? I suppose it will also be construed as an attack on Sen. Wellstone for Mr. Coleman to state his positions.
Until Monday, the vultures were just tasting the corpse; it seems it tasted good. On Monday they began to feast in earnest. All Senators were welcome at the funeral, all except the President of the Senate; VP Chaney. Mark my words, this is a set up! Within 6 months, after people have forgotten that Mr. Chaney was "asked" to stay away "by the family", both Bush and Chaney will be called heartless, cold, and partisan for "snubbing the family" of Sen. Wellstone in their days of crisis. They will be criticized for sending only a junior cabinet member. Had the tables been reversed 4 yrs ago, the family of a dead Republican Senator would have been torn to shreds by the press for being selfish and partisan. Of course, had that been the case, it wouldn't have been Gore going, it would have been Clinton himself; anything for a photo op!
In addition, Mr. Coleman will be forced to refrain from mentioning Sen. Wellstone, yet the "sympathy card" will be played up by the Dems. Sen. Wellstone would have wanted . Sen. Wellstone would have never stooped to that level . Sen. Wellstone would have never said (fill in the blank).
Since the libs control the press (or most of it), they will get their message out. If Republicans try to respond; we'll be called mean spirited, hateful, etc. Let's not forget the Carnahan race in MO, not this one, the last one. AG Ashcroft was running against Mr. Carnahan, who also died suddenly. Ashcroft suspended his campaign, and virtually gave the race to Mr. Carnahan's widow. What else could he do? Gee, let's portray this woman who just lost her husband as a dim-wit? Oh yah, that will play! Never mind that she is a dim wit! It just wouldn't fly! The Dems had a huge sympathy card there. I'm surprised they didn't run one of the sons in MN; or - maybe that's their real "November Surprise"?

Flying is an activity that requires good understanding, foresight, and judgement to safely manage the activity's inherent risk.
Worse, they DISINVITED the Vice President. Persona Non Grata.
WILL IT STILL BE HER SENATE?
A nixiecrat is someone who specializes in saying "No" (Nyet?) to a Republican President.
Wellstone was a nixiecrat. Daschle is a nixiecrat.
The sight of Wellstone's son (the Shirley temple lookalike) pumping his fist in the air and screaming about winning at the top of his lungs was utterly disgusting. As were the pictures of Clinton and his cabal yukking it up and high fiving. Tom Harkin's rant would have been more appropriate at a 1930s Nuremburg torchlight rally. Let's face it, these are people whose behavior ranges from no class to low class, and that's on a good day.
Minnesota is pretty firmly in control of Clinton liberals. They have no shame. They knew what they were doing, and they were utterly "in your face" to the Republicans who came to pay their respects. It's quite amusing to think that they were upstaged by a former wrestler, who was one of the few people at the event that showed any class. The rest behaved like a bunch of Ozark trailer trash. I'm surprised they didn't give Clinton a " 4 more years" chant.
