=====
Our much anticipated event, GlocktoberFest, went off with only the most minor of hitches. It was wet and drizzly at times, but we didn't get the heavy rain that was predicted. We had 11 HAT Chapter FReepers in attendance, 2 out of town FReepers as well as 2 guests. Lodwick gets the award for the longest trek [Austin] and Bigun followed with a close second [Huntsville]. The HAT folks that were there are Flyer, RikaStrom, Humblegunner, BobbyD, Eaker, Dix, COB1, EastForker and Missus Eastie, PetroniDE and Retired AF Warrior.
The weapons present included a .300 Winchester, 2 SKS's, 3 Glock .40's, a Sig Sauer .40, a S&W 9mm, 22 magnum Winchester lever action, .357 Ruger, H&K SLB-1, several .22 target pistols, a Sig 228, a CZ 75b and others. The individual gun owners are encouraged to talk about their guns for clarity.
I can't even guess at the number of rounds that were fired. Let's just say A LOT! It was a priceless opportunity to fire a wide variety of weapons at a single outing.
Post-range we retired to the home of our gracious hostess, RikaStrom. The intermittent rain moved our plans from her backyard into the garage. We mixed casual conversation, political talk and great food. The menu include brisket, Elgin sausage, shrimp, potato salad, chips, dips, sodas and beer. A big Texas thanks to all that participated and volunteered with food and supplies to help make this a success.
After our guests and out of town FReepers left we also conducted Chapter business, as this event was in lieu of our regular monthly meeting.
It has been suggested that we not wait another year and instead schedule an event in the spring. In the spirit of COB1 and Eaker we may call it. . . Springfield Break!

As always, a FReep mail will get you on or off this Houston topics ping list.

Well, we almost had the high water this time. We'll keep you on the ping list.
You will not believe why I didn't make it, except that I couldn't make this story up!
One of those damn door to door solicitors came to the door to slip in an ad in the crack yesterday morning. My dog went ballistic and crashed through the panels.
The solicitor went running, the dog had a gash in both front arms, and I needed a new $900 frickin' front door.
That doesn't count the $200 vet bill, dammit.
Gotta be the Dog Chow!
Sorry you couldn't make it. It wasn't a pretty day but the rain wasn't near as bad as predicted. BTW. . . exactly what kind of dog do you have??
DG, if you made that story up, I wish you had been around when I was married!
I would have paid big bucks for stories like that!
LOL!
I'm sorry you couldn't make it, pard.
We'll do it again.............real quick!!
