Ex-president, now man-of-the-people Bill Clinton had a table full of diners at a local Little Rock eatery evicted in mid-meal last weekend because he wanted their seats for himself and his entourage.
Checking into the town's trendy new restaurant "The Living Room" for Sunday brunch, he of the humble roots asked for a table near the window. But, according to U.S. News & World Report's "Washington Whispers," the only window table that could accommodate Clinton's party of twelve was full.
No problem. "The Living Room's" hostess gladly obliged his highness by simply "asking" the more plebeian customers to move to a less desirable table.
Once seated, reports "Whispers," "Clinton had to step away to use his cellular phone, and customers report that he waved at passing cars while talking."
Little Rock locals best be prepared to make more such sacrifices for their home-state royal.
"Friends say the visit proves to Arkansas skeptics that Clinton plans to spend lots of time in Little Rock as he works to build his presidential library and museum," the magazine noted.
I volunteered to drive a vehicle in a Cheney motorcade in the fall of 2000. We picked the Cheneys up at Dulles and drove them to their townhouse in Virginia. Cheney insisted that no traffic be held up, everyone drive the speed limit and no intersections were to be blocked for the motorcade.
The Secret Service guys said Cheney's attitude was 180 degrees from Clinton/Gore's. They insisted that the motorcade be as big a show (and pain in the ass for other motorists) as possible.
LOL! Oh if only we'd known! We could have had an impromptu Hog Wild FReeper meeting at said restaurant complete with "Bubba Blows" signs!
And wouldn't it have been fun to have a few of us drive by while he's outside on his cell phone waving at cars so we could show him our one-finger salutes? How I would LOVE an opportunity like that!
I bet he never did that for the 'late' night rides to the Marriott.
As we can see, when choice tables are outlawed, only outlaws will sit at choice tables.......
I don't know who the he!! you are, or where the he!! you live, but if you ever come to SE Texas, diner is on me! ;-)
Oh, so would I, but he seems quite adept at avoiding them. He knows that but for a few koolaid drinkers, he doesn't have too many friends in Arkansas even in his own party.
ROTFL! Now THAT's funny!
I loathed Wellstone's politics, nothing more than the kosherized version of Black Caucus socialism. And I get sick to my stomach hearing Wellstone eulogized as some kind of saint because he stayed true to his far left wing philosopy. (Honoring him, when you know his political opposite, a far right winger, wouldn't get the same honors).
But I do feel bad for the people who loved Wellstone, and the sadness they are experiencing. I don't wish cruel, unexpected, and violent death on anyone. And if I were going on television for any reason, in an official capacity, representing a constituency, I would adhere to the accepted dresscode for adults.
But that's just me.
Assuming that this very important person was, at the least, Henry Kissinger, I consented.....only to learn that my seat was given to a third rate singer named Julius La Rosa!
I was so livid that I shouted at the Stewie, "Hell, I'm more important than that has-been!"
Many fellow passengers agreed with me. After that, No More Mr. Nice Guy!!!!!
My family and I also fell victim to Bill and Hill's self indulgence. We had taken off from work and given our daughter a day off from school to go into Manhattan to see the Rock Center Christmas Tree, visit Macy's Santaland, and have lunch at Rumplemeyers. We arrived at Rock Ctr at dusk and as I was setting my SLR for pix the NYPD came around herding us all out of the skating rink area. It seemed Bill and Hill wanted the view to themselves and to give Chelsea a solo spin on the Ice Rink.So thousands of people, locals and tourists, were inconvenienced by our self indulgent first family. You're right Dubya and Laura would never do that.
I bet he never did that for the 'late' night rides to the Marriott.
My reply: Why wouldn't he leave the light on? The press did not care and it was just about sex right!
