They've become our ally in WW III -- though neither side seems to wish to admit it.

OMG. Prayers for the victims and hostages. Saw a horrible picture in the NY Post today of a dead woman being dragged out of the theatre. This is one scary situation. Maybe Russia will change its mind after this about Iraq. France is already moving in our direction.

Why didn't you post the whole article?

Prayers for the forces going in and for the hostages' safety

Lots of prayers needed, indeed. Psalm 3:7
Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.

My wife and I will leave tomarrow for Moscow. We are adopting a baby girl from an orphanage in Stavropol. How wonderful for you and your wife!!! A ray of hope and love in this hostile world. My cousins adopted 2 children from Columbia. Very scary for them to be in a country where people walk around with Machine guns. Please be careful when you are there! Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!

Never thought I'd be praying for the success of Russian special forces...

I would leave Georgia, if I was there. One of my daughter's teammates' family emigrated here to the US, having managed to get most everybody out of the Republic of Georgia over 5 years ago. They could see the writing on the wall.

Something will happen soon. The terrorists will start killing hostages at 06:00 tomorrow morning. The journalists were told to leave the scene, and the elite Alpha Force has been brought in.
To: Jasonconley
If the media has been ordered to leave, I guess we won't be getting many more updates?

Almost just a girl, only 20 years old. Poor kid.

How do you think Ghandi would have fared against the Russians?...so much for the theory of Passive Resistance...it only works against a people committed to angst..and guilt...
The Russians have no such hangups...vodka helps imo
If they dont have a big backup plan to take all the hostages with them as well as the anti terrorist troops...
Yes some hostages might live...picking them all out of the rubble and separating them from the terrorists might be difficult..

I have met a lot of Russians and people from the former satellite countries. ALL of them are kind, caring people who just want to get the best out of life. No doubt you will have a very rewarding experience going over to meet and adopt your new child. Here's to a safe journey!

"State Duma deputy Iosif Kobzon, who has just come out of the music theater, said that he had offered himself and Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov for the hostages. According to Kobzon, the terrorists declared: "We don't need Luzhkov, we need (head of Chechnya's administration) Kadyrov." Kobzon quoted one of the terrorists, whose name was Abubakarov, as saying: "We will be waiting here until the end, and
we want to die honorably more than you want to live, so, hurry up.""
