SAN ANTONIO -- Air Force recruiters will soon be dropping by at Columbia, Harvard and other schools hitherto off limits to the military, to the apparent distress of some administrators. University heads who banned on-campus recruitment on the grounds that the military services' "don't ask, don't tell" policy was discriminatory have begun to reassess this principled position. But let the dean of Columbia law school explain.

There was the matter of that federal money -- some $300 million. Enough, evidently, to persuade the university to abandon its deep devotion to principle. At Columbia as elsewhere, every principle has its price. LOL! Hypocrites, everyone of them!

A University's charter is to prepare students for a career. The Military is an honorable career path. Hence, the Dean is doing a dis-service to the students; as it is HIS JOB to make certain that the student is exposed to as many career choices as possible. I think they need a new Dean.

""(The dean of the law school promised that he would inform the students when military recruiters are to appear, and make clear the reasons the school opposes such interviewing.)""
The dean is trying to have it both ways. Keep the federal money and scare off any possible recruits while harrassing DoD.
Yes, I wish he would make clear why he is opposed to the USA being able to defend itself, and him too.

"I think they need a new Dean." And the dean needs a new set of ethical and moral standards.

The Univ's say it is because of military discrimination toward the gay population. Political correctness kills, while honoring political agenda. Crazy.

LOL! Hypocrites, everyone of them! Not really, this just sums up what liberalism is al about. I've never heard liberals argue principles above comfort. When a liberal is faced with a choice of principle or money, money always wins. They usually don't deny this.
Conservatives aren't much different. They just deny it. That's what I call hypocrisy; denying it.

Yes, I wish he would make clear why he is opposed to the USA being able to defend itself, and him too.I doubt that he actually knows. The military represents moral values, personal responsibility, and integrity. Qualities liberals hate since they are unable to cultivate them in themselves. They don't want to accept their own shortcomings, so they end up hating anything or anyone that makes them apparant.

There was the matter of that federal money -- some $300 millionUnmentioned: this law (no money for schools that ban military recruiting) was passed in 1996. It is only now being enforced.

Our own squantos' younger brother is a USAF Pararescueman (PJ). Here is a salute to him and his brothers in arms, so that others may live.

I'm glad to see these guys get the recogonition they deserve. SEALS and SF get too much attention, while these guys and the US Coast Guard rescue swimmers get none. One of these days some bright reporter is going to wake up and discover there is one hell of a good human-interest story in the rescue swimmers.

My email will contain only one word. That to me describes this bloodsucker of Taxpayer funding...
