pretty cold...and calling someone a coward just because they expressed concern about doing everyday tasks that "took out" fellow citizens?
Maybe you can put your money where your mouth is and book a vacation to MD and/or VA real soon!??? I bet you don't.
I went to NYC 3 wks after 9/11 and I smelled the acrid smoke, and looked a the rubble pile of human remains and buildings.....
I was a little afraid, I'll admit...but I made myself go to show my support and took my kids.... I also went to broadway plays, the museum etc...Each time was easier than that first time.
I certainly can understand the anxiety, none of those victims thought they would be killed by the sniper I bet...
I agree you can't hide, but people do have a right to feel anxious when threatened by such an unknown...if you KNOW who's after you, then you FIGHT back.

The more developments that trickle out, the more this doesn't seem like AQ to me. It does, however, seem to track with Hamas, Hizbollah or Islamic Jihad. We know the various terrorist groups "compete" to see how many Israeli innocents they can kill (whoever can kill the most gets the most new recruits). Could we be seeing a challenge here to AQ's global terror dominance by another group (e.g., Hizbollah recruiter: those crazy AQs, they just murder people for fun. WE murder people to get fellow Muslims released from prison, or for blackmail $$$...)

I know of three guys who went to jail and two are still in jail because real cops had the sense to take hand written evidence to schools and ask the teachers if they knew whose hand writing and style. In all 3 cases the guys had been out of school for years, and the teachers knew immediately whose writing it was. You've supported your point well. Release the info to the public, and go to teachers as well, beacause they may not see it in the media.

There is a better way to do this. The U.S. could simply rattle off a list of a dozen or so major cities in Islamic countries that must be evacuated within 48 hours. Imagine the bedlam that would result, even if nothing happens after the 48 hours are up. And what if the sniper turns out to be a white, Christian fundimentalist, sociopath?

Here's a fascinating thought . . .
Forget about the handwriting itself. I had a college professor who said I didn't need to put my name on my papers -- she swore she could identify them (typewritten!) based only on my writing style.

I suspect the sniper wanted Moose to announce the message, "Your children are not safe...," either yesterday or Sunday.
When the message was not forthcoming from Moose to the public the sniper sent a message of displeasure to Moose by murdering the bus driver IN Moose's territory.
The sniper was not happy Moose did not follow his demands and he let him know it by killing another citizen.
After the murder, the decision was made to release the message to the public.

So far no problem here in Wyoming with half of us packing.

Does anyone have a link to a credible source with the race of the Ponderosa victim? Washington Times...Link
The victim, who was described as a 37-year-old white male traveler, was shot once in the abdomen and taken to Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond for surgery.

. . . it does, however, seem to track with Hamas, Hizbollah or Islamic Jihad. I speculated on another thread that Palestinian terrorist groups would be the last ones on earth to carry out this kind of attack in the U.S. They hate us as much as anyone else does, but they also recognize that this country represents a marvelous source of cash for them. I can't imagine that they would ever want to jeopardize that stream of cash.

What did Dr Lott have to say?One think he said made perfect sense...Children are more at risk out of school than at school, to paraphrase.

These cops went to the schools and got permission to talk to the teachers during recess or lunch time. They showed copies of the hand writing and left copies if the teachers want copies. Then they posted a copy on the bulletin board. Next they went to retired teachers still in the area. In one of these cases it was a retired English teacher. She knew immediately who it was. They found him and watched him and nailed him in the act of trying rob another bank with one of his hand written notes. Sentencing was very simple as he plead guilty. He never knew about the retired teacher saying look for Johnny, he could never spell money correctly.

One thing is for sure, those that show up at the Armories will most likely be the kind you want showing up. Prepared, ready, stable, and set on go.
To: ImaGraftedBranch
You are exactly correct. He stated that he is NOT an American citizen. "Your children..." Don't agree. Even though I have thought all along that this is ME terrorism, an American male with no children of his own could easily have written the message in this manner. He is an outsider now. Anybody not him is the enemy, so their children could easily be "your" children in his eyes.

However, I would have my Redhawk .44 mag and my Colt 1911 concealed and I would run directly at the most likely area the shot came from and sacrafice myself if need be to locate the shooter either concealed or attempting to egress the area. I would suspect anyone and everyone and look as rapidly as possible. I believe a brave citizen with a cell phone is going to be the hero that spots this bastard instead of hiding for cover after the next shot. Lets roll and pray that it does not take #20 before a brave soul out there spots the shooter and pursues the killer under fire.
A shootout with the sniper, or even a second shot that fells a brave citizen, would localize the b@st@rd probably more effectively than the flying military gear.
Chasing after the sniper with armed only with a cell phone would be brave indeed! I'd rather have something that goes boom.
If we get some copycats or more terrorist cells around the country, then I doubt the government at all levels has enough resources to stop it.
Same as the airlines -- the most effective security improvement since 9/11 is the fact that the passengers, starting with flight 93, won't let it happen again.

A theory of why Feds haven't taken over.
This type of terrorism will be the norm rather then the exception from now on and LOCAL police authorities are going to have to be able to handle this kinda terrorism without running to the Feds everytime.
I'm thinking this is a message to terrorists that LOCAL authorities will be able to handle terrorists.
