Nope......not my kid.....it's one thing to say there's "one in a million chances, blah, blah," it's quite another when you don't know who you're dealing with (i.e., a psycho, a terrorist cell .... because now the "odds" are shot (no pun intended). We've got a wacko or somebody intentionally out there planning and plotting next victim. IMO, this changes the "odds" from "random accidents."

Down here in lower Montgomery County, the Takoma Park Police are on their radios saying that the county PD wants NO cars moving eastbound on University Blvd. and some talk of closing down southbound New Hampshire Ave at University Blvd... more coming through on scanner...

Broken english could be any language even Chinese. He definitely lives in Virginia though.

Evidently they shut every road in this area within moments of the incident. It will be interesting to see how this plays out this morning.

3:55 a.m. PDT - local NBC affiliate still showing repeat of one of their stupid late-night shows; local CBS is showing stale taped news; local ABC affiliate just has a billboard with local network logo. (Eastern Washington state).
If it wasn't for Fox News and the other cable news nets, I'd be totally oblivious.
To: DoughtyOne
If this turns out to be an illegal alien, there's going to be some very angry citizens waking up all of a sudden. I would hope for such a silver lining to this pitch black cloud.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
the letter was "very lengthy" and poorly worded, bordering on broken English. <{> Wow, that is news to me.....(I heard about the lengthy, not the other).

They said there is a cemetary nearby he could have escaped thru there (if it has a road leading out the opposite direction).

Mo County Fire & Rescue (Kensington #25 IIRC) has station at Conn and Bel Pre, very close to the shooting scene.

Actually I'd hate to have any issue I advocated for be resolved due to such happenings. This is such a shame. Innocent people just trying to get through life are being shot out of the blue for no reason. This is pitiful.

Channel 9 reporting every vehicle being checked out going both ways at American Legion Bridge (I-495).

Israel has dealt with this sort of thing for decades. They don't shut down their country, which is smaller than the area in which these snipings have been happening.
To: areafiftyone
See that flashlight in the woods to the right of the bus. If you're watching Fox, someone is in there looking for evidence.
I suspect this guy may be walking in and out on foot now.

They don't shut down their country, which is smaller than the area in which these snipings have been happening. Not even close. Israel is about the size of NJ.
To: DoughtyOne
Such anger, however, would tend to discourage other illegals from pushing their luck. If it is Islamoinsanity, this sniper is not a lone wolf.
To: tgslTakoma
"All traffic to come to a complete standstill until directed further by Montgomery County..." from Takoma Park PD. Lookouts being announced...
To: tgslTakoma
Well, I hope they keep the witnesses away from the media this time.

I understand that, but they've had, what, decades of dealing with this. Unfortunately, it's become a "normal" way of life to them. It isn't here.....people need to learn how to adjust to this, including police strategies, schools, communities, etc. We've been "thrust" into this pretty much overnight......

You are correct about Israel. And we have had sniper/shooters before and we never stopped living or closed down schools. But then again after 9/11 everyone is panicky about any kind of thing right now. So we have to deal with it from a psychological point now because of 9/11 and our paranoia about terrorists. We add fuel to the fire when we think of terrorists everywhere and don't realize logically that we have our own homegrown nutjobs and we have had them in every century.

It might be best to take the name and addresses of every person inside those paremeters. Then cross reference the next time. Within a few times, you might begin to see some repeats. They could be checked out extensively.
