Israel has dealt with this sort of thing for decades. They don't shut down their country, which is smaller than the area in which these snipings have been happening.

I understand that, but they've had, what, decades of dealing with this. Unfortunately, it's become a "normal" way of life to them. It isn't here.....people need to learn how to adjust to this, including police strategies, schools, communities, etc. We've been "thrust" into this pretty much overnight......

You are correct about Israel. And we have had sniper/shooters before and we never stopped living or closed down schools. But then again after 9/11 everyone is panicky about any kind of thing right now. So we have to deal with it from a psychological point now because of 9/11 and our paranoia about terrorists. We add fuel to the fire when we think of terrorists everywhere and don't realize logically that we have our own homegrown nutjobs and we have had them in every century.
