LEWISTON, Maine (AP) A facilitator from the U.S. Department of Justice will meet with Somali and city leaders this week to assist in discussions following tensions earlier this month.
A conciliator from the department's Community Relations Service was to arrive in Lewiston Tuesday or Wednesday to begin discussions, said Martin Walsh, regional director of the service.

Nearly 12,000 Somali refugees transferred I wonder what the figure really is!
Some 11,800 Somali Bantu refugees have been successfully transferred from the Dadaab refugee camp in northeastern Kenya to Kakuma camp in the northwestern Turkana District, the United Nations refugee agency said here Tuesday.

the mayor wrote an open letter asking Somali residents to urge friends and family not to come to Lewiston because its financial resources were stretched to the limit. More than 1,000 Somalis have moved to Lewiston in the past 18 months. Maine residents are literally losing their shirts (Final try to save Hathaway under way) as Somalis are taking all the high-tech service jobs.

Mayor Larry Raymond's letter also drew the attention of the Community Relations Service, a "peacemaker" agency that works on community conflicts arising from differences of race and national origin. Sometimes I feel like a pawn in some demented social engineer's laboratory. Creepy.

I suggest that we kick back, open a couple bottles of beer, light up a cigarette and watch the show. :-)

"MISSION: The Community Relations Service is the Department's "peacemaker" for community conflicts and tensions arising from differences of race, color, and national origin. Created by the Civil Rights Act of 1964, CRS is the only Federal agency dedicated to assist State and local units of government, private and public organizations, and community groups with preventing and resolving racial and ethnic tensions, incidents, and civil disorders, and in restoring racial stability and harmony. CRS facilitates the development of viable, mutual understandings and agreements as alternatives to coercion, violence, or litigation. It also assists communities in developing local mechanisms, conducting training, and other proactive measures to prevent or reduce racial/ethnic tension. CRS does not take sides among disputing parties and, in promoting the principles and ideals of non-discrimination, applies skills that allow parties to come to their own agreement. In performing this mission, CRS deploys highly skilled professional conciliators, who are able to assist people of diverse racial and cultural backgrounds. "

Augusta is supposed to have a BIG show this Saturday! The anti-war protestors are going to have a BIG one. Did you hear about it? Nope, I hadn't heard about it. I'm way out here in Los Angeles waiting for some federal "conciliator" to show up and tell me to be more welcoming to half of Mexico.

Ah..I see. All the Somalis have to do is come here, land their lazy butts (50% unemployment) in an economically depressed area, THREATEN the locals with "riprisals" for non existant violence against them...and successfully lobby for federal protection...I imagine many of them are Muslim, yes? So, they will now have a protected "homeland" here in the US...a BASE, from which to launch the terrorist war for their cause of an "establishing an independent Muslim state", right there in Main...wonderful, JUST wonderful.

Move to Maine, cause some sort of upraising, call in the Big Guns, cry foul, and have MORE handed to them.
I'm not sure about this. Our own poor people can't get Federal Assistance, but if your an immigrant, you can have the Federal Authorities cater to your every whim. Does this sound right?

Does this sound right?Somalis can't handle the cold in Lewiston Maine. They will run through twice as much heating oil as an American. I'll bet there just has to be some kind of Federal heating oil subsidy in their refugee benefits package. Also a subsidy for higher winter electric bills.
