Vanity (But True!!!): I was on Southwest Flight 160 with Al Gore!!!! ROTFLOL ALERT!!!!

NOT MAKING THIS UP!!!

Hubby and I were just about to board Southwest Flight 160 from Hartford CT to Nashville last Saturday. Next thing we knew The Goron was in the gate area having his bags checked, being wanded, and then (of course) being hustled to the front of the line so he could be seated on the plane ahead of the people in wheelchairs.

Our reactions: astonishment, loud laughter, and then marvel at how nervous and self-conscious he seemed. Hubby and I settled into quiet joking and insults between the two of us--although hubby said The Goron gave him a long stare while he was being wanded--hubby glared right back at him until he looked away (LOL).

We had to walk by The Goron to get seated in the back. The Goron and his lackey toook up all 6 seats at the very front right side of the plane. (Didn't know Southwest had First Class Seating--LOL). As everyone passed by, no one spoke to The Goron either positively or negatively--we all basically ignored him, which was a little strange, now that I think about it. The Goron held up a newspaper in front of his face & pretended to read it the whole time--but he was turning the pages every five seconds and he kept one eyeball uncovered so he could look over each passenger as they walked by. It was a really wierd thing to watch.

I have to say, I actually had no desire to even make a joking snide comment as I passed by The Goron. The overall impression he made on me was that he's just another loser with a capital L , desperately wanting to be someone important, at the same time projecting no self-confidence. I actually felt sorry for him at the time.

During the two-hour flight the Goron got up a couple of times to use the lavatory (must have been drinking ice tea--LOL!!!). When the plane landed, he grabbed his lock-box and was the first guy off the plane (of course).

Hubby and I are still laughing about this. Talk about wierd karma............

Eh-Gahd! Gore flying Southwest. What will the boys from the prep school think.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY! Could you imagine? Going from "winning the election" to riding in the cattlecar, even if it's in the front of the bus....

It's Algore's scheme to get more frequent flyer miles quicker: Buy 3 tickets for each trip you take and earn triple the mileage!

I certainly wouldn't be bragging to the whole world if I had treated someone the way you did. I'd be apologizing for my boorish behavior.

The way I see it, respect is EARNED. Gore is not worthy of civility or respect.

And we wonder why we have reputations as intolerant hatemongers.

Speak for yourself, jerk.

Algore made me feel real bad during the 1992 election with his lies of "Everything that is down should be up and everything that is up should be down" et al.

Mr. Snippy is a vile stuffed shirt. He was elected to represent America but together with Bubba Clinton did their damnedest to divide this nation and pit groups against one another.

You're the one that is using the word "intolerant". That's a code word for liberals.

The most important thing in life is not to make sure someone's feelings are not bruised, regardless of what you learned in school from well-meaning liberal teachers. If he is going to be in the public eye then he has to be a big enough boy to withstand some criticism and disdain.

In case you didn't notice, RooRoobird14 is a "human being." And now you've hurt her feelings by calling her that name -- "boorish." Just because you don't agree with her, doesn't mean you have the right to step on her self-esteem. I think it would do you a world of good to openly acknowledge your common humanity with her and apologize to her right this minute.

Wouldn't you agree?

Get out of Cheney's Seat! Get out of Cheney's Seat! Get out of Cheney's Seat!

Tslim, that is JUST TOO FUNNY!!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!

In hindsight, there's about a million funny things we could have said when we walked by the Goron, but--to our surprise--both Hubby and I actually felt sorry for him and thought "What's the point to insulting this loser?"

Also, there's probably a good chance we would have been pistol-whipped and put off the plane if we had displeased His Large Hineyness. We're not stupid---The Goron wasn't worth that.

Yes, I do believe that democrats are human beings,

You probably believe in the tooth fairy and Easter Bunny, too. Otherwise, you'd know better.

Apparently, they screwed up the car assignment for Bill Clinton about 2 weeks ago, and he had to walk through the rain to get a yellow taxi. ;)

Apparently Mr. Hillary Clinton enjoyed his rental car that he ended up with...

I think folks would have to have flown Southwest to fully grasp the flavor of this scene. Southwest is a no-frills airline with open (not assigned) seating. There are generally a lot of business folks mixed in with other private individuals. While Southwest's service is generally good, it's by no means an upscale airline on the order of Delta, United or others. Southwest is one step up from Greyhound.

Southwest runs a very tight ship. They have cut their costs and often provide special ticket prices. They are one of the most solvent airlines these days. They have turned a profit during each of the last few years. They have developed a niche market that weathers adverse conditions well. I fly them intermittantly, and thought folks would find it rather amusing that Gore would be flying on type of airline. Most of us would think of him on some private jet or at least flying first class on a major airline.
