Sure, we can be a little more wary of our surroundings and a little more vigilant but we should not hide under our beds because of some statistically imperceptible threat. If you have damaged asbestos in your house, then hiding under your bed may be much more dangerous than taking your chances with the sniper.

People can be trapped in employment choices. I'm working for the federal government because no private law firm would hire me after graduation and clerkship at age 50.

AMEN to your Post #778!
This thread has gone off topic alot and you bring up very good points!

You have nailed another flash of Moose in the frying pan with these comments:
Chief Moose asks the person (sniper or witness, who knows), to call the number the person left.
That's right - "Call the number" the sniper or witness left.
The reporters are scratching their heads on that one.
Chief Moose is the best!
Maybe now the FBI will take over the investigation.
Yep, Moose, the bad guy is supposed to call you on the number that he left in his note!
Moose has never been in charge of this investigation, he is the token Politically Correct Hand Puppet that is used to make people think he is in charge.

Chief Moose is an embarrassment to the entire Washington, D.C. area. People are terrified here and this idiot certainly doesn't instill much confidence in the law enforcement authorities, who thus far appear to be totally clueless. I hate to say it, but Moose is a walking advertisement against affirmative action. I think that when they failed to catch him (or them), or even see anything valuable, a few fridays ago when a state trooper was less than 50 yards from the man who was shot as a gas station in Manassas, Va., law enforcement proved they are incapable of catching the sniper(s). If they couldn't catch him when a state trooper was standing that close to the shooting scene, how can they ever expect to have a better opportunity?

Ummm....errrr....I'm a gurl. And I see you're from Virginia. I hope you teach at my son's school. Life forced me to take him out of Catholic school and send him to his doom in a government school.

Yep, Moose, the bad guy is supposed to call you on the number that he left in his note! There is no reason why he couldn't. I mean, do really think the sniper was going to leave his number for the police to call? Of course not, he left the number he wants to call to make his demands. The police either were already using this number, or have now acquired this number for their use. Chief Moose doesnt need to explain his comments to you or me, the sniper knows what he is talking about.

Well, I am now able to sort of answer my own question...
"I am wondering why the media automatically assumed this message was from the shooter? Has anyone heard a reporter quote sources saying that it was?"
CNN just reported 'inside sources' have confirmed that Moose was speaking directly to the shooter. So LE actually believes the note was from him. [Okee Dokee]

Ummm....errrr....I'm a gurl. And I see you're from Virginia. I hope you teach at my son's school. Life forced me to take him out of Catholic school and send him to his doom in a government school. You should consider home schooling. A public education will not mean your child is doomed, but it sure is not going to help him succeed in this dog-eat-dog world.
To: SwordofTruth
I think it's likely that the snipper didn't think he was leaving a phone number, just the "message" "911". Police are using it to bait him into calling them. Pretty sharp if that's what's going on. They have already begged him to write to their POB.
To: Grampa Dave
I don't think the Chief has ever been in charge. He's been the public relations guy. Concerning the tarot card, I've been wondering if the killer isn't the one who told the media. What better way to cause problems between the media than by putting out info and causing each other to be suspicious of one another.

Ahem. The teacher in question was actually arguing that the schools should NOT close.
Don't think the "lazy teacher" argument applies here.

Ahem. The teacher in question was actually arguing that the schools should NOT close.I know. Class seems more important than a terrorist threat on the kids. I'm defending the kids, not the teacher who may have to work a few extra days into his 3 month summer vacation.
If LE says there's a credable threat, get the kids out of there. If parents are concerned, it's because they're doing it out of love for their kids. Kids first. Government funding or vacations later.
To: John Jamieson
That would fit with the first message "I am God". It also fits with the recent info that the message was cryptic. It also fits with the kind of message that would generate sufficient fear to close schools. AND, it also fits 100% with the words of Moose.
Need I say I think you may be on to something?
To: John Jamieson
You are probably right. Why else would the Chief have to tell the sniper that the number he left was a phone number? I'll check back in tomorrow to see what has transpired. Hopefully they will catch this murderer before he strikes again.
