Push 'em Back, Push 'em Back, Waaaay Back!
The Democratic National Committee's "Every Vote Counts" celebration Wednesday felt a lot like a high school pep rally before the big game.
The opposing team: a handful of Republican protesters outside the Warner Theatre.
The star quarterback: former president Bill Clinton.
The principal: DNC chair Terry McAuliffe......

I'm going to see if I can afford to make it on the 26th. If I can't, I'll send a contribution to Angelwood to help fund your expenses.
To: Dave Dilegge
I read your after action report - you guys are great. You're a heck of a lot more than a "handful of Republican protestors" - you're part of a movement!
We also had one hell of a line and backfield. Still it wasn't much of a game - the DNC fumbled the ball on almost every play.

The opposing team: a handful of Republican protesters outside the Warner Theatre. Sounds to me as if this writer is assuming you were a bunch of paid Republican minions. I guess she assumes that based on her experience with the Democratic party. Little does she know you're all equal opportunity FReepers -- Democrats, leftists, and RINOS beware. No discrimination here.
To: mr.sarcastic
The opposing team: a handful of Republican protesters... Well said, I vote GOP but... That night we got accused for the umteenth time of being paid by the RNC to be out there. The memory of this accusation is vivid as they even convinced themselves that everyone in front of the VP's house, Nov. and Dec. 2000, were paid. Of course, FReepers being FReepers, the "I am a paid GOP thug" signs began appearing - many carried by children, grandparents, etal.

. . . a handful of Republican protesters outside the Warner Theatre. Hey Roxanne, where were you during that weekend in November 2000 when the democrats had to shake the trees to get about 40 people to show up at "Cheney's" house and the real Americans had at least 1000 supporters? (I know, kristinn, you said 800, but people came and went during the day.) The Washington Compost lied with their photos and story the next day without even mentioning how many Bush supporters were there. Nothing's changed!

From your profile page, FC:
. . . I have decided it is long past time I spoke up and got active.
I'll bring an extra umbrella if you say you'll show up. BTW, welcome to FR.
To: leadpenny
Hey LP, you Army dog you, what a farce the reporting was in reference to "Get Out of Cheney's House" - I wasn't a FReeper then but showed up almost every day and never did the Gore side have even one 10th the numbers we did. Rain or shine - in the cold Nov. and Dec. weather - the faithful were out there.

the event did raise $5 million. I don't understand this number. I saw less than 1000 people go in. Did tickets really cost 5000 each ?
