Tom Davis's Voting Record (VA 11th District)
Frank Creel for Congress website ^ | 10/4/02 | Creel for Congress

Posted on 10/05/2002 1:13:07 PM PDT by ltlflwr

Posted on the 'Creel for Congress' website is a summary of Tom Davis's voting record, rather dismal, but not surprising. Here are a few examples:

Abortion Ban HR 2500, 7/17/01 (Roll Call #235) DeGette (D-CO) to the Commerce, Justice, State Appropriations Bill that would have permitted the use of taxpayer funds for abortion services in federal prisons. ACU opposed this bill. Result: Bill defeated. Davis voted YES.

Boy Scouts HR 2944, 9/25/01 (Vote #353 ) Norton (D-DC) amendment to the District of Columbia Appropriations Bill that would permit the use of local funds to force the Boy Scouts of America to reinstate two homosexual leaders and compensate them $50,000 each. ACU opposed this bill. Result: Bill defeated. Davis voted YES.

Roll Call # 53 - 3/12/02 Passage of H. RES. 365 providing for the concurrence by the House to agree to the Senate amendments, and therefore pass H.R.1885, the Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act, which included amnesty for illegal aliens. Eagle Forum urged a NO vote. Result: Resolution passed on suspension. Davis voted YES.

Roll Call # 378 - 10/11/01 Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) introduced an amendment to the Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations bill (H.R. 3061) to transfer $12 million from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention account. Eagle Forum urged a YES vote. Result: Amendment failed. Davis unbelievably voted NO!

Just out of curiousity, is there a Democrat running in this district?

NO! Can you believe it? A rarity in politics! :)

ForOurFuture,

It's a long shot but ultimately, if it will make Davis reconsider the many liberal positions he's taken of late, it will be well worth the effort.

We're optimistic that, at the very least, my father will make a good showing. Almost everyone we meet is "sick and tired" of Davis and wish our campaign success.

This fool cosponsored h.r. 4633 ...

Yes, with his pal, democRAT, Jim Moran. Redistricting drew the lines in favor of both of these incumbents. Davis got the more conservative precincts of Moran's 8th District, while Moran got Davis's more liberal precincts of the 11th District.

I wish Scott Tate the best in his campaign to oust Moran, even though I don't agree with all of his positions. Anyone is better than Moran!

Does the media really care about a debate on the issues? I noticed no reporter from The Times attended the press conference kicking off Creel's campaign, and no coverage of the candidates' stands on the issues has been run.

Thank you for this post. Just goes to show how liberal the media really is (if there were any doubts). Most of the media are also in favor of increasing Virginia's sales tax by 11% to ease the traffic problems in Northern Virginia.

In fact, if the tax referendum passes, the one person who will benefit the most would be John T. "Til" Hazel, a major developer and lawyer and strong supporter of Davis.

"It's time (tax hike opponents) quit their moaning and whining. Developers make this world function." - John T. "Til" Hazel, The Washington Post, 9/24/02

It's really quite simple. More roads from more taxes lead to more development which leads back to the starting point of more traffic. Taxes are not going to be the solution to our traffic problem - ever. Here's my father's position on "Why Our Freeways Are Parking Lots"

Without a doubt, I would vote for Creel if I were in that District.

Appreciate that!

If you would, however, be interested in contributing to the campaign that would be great. We're trying to raise money for radio ads and signs for the final leg of this race. :)

Thanks for the ping. I love to see a conservative putting pressure on an incumbent like Davis. The Scott Tate signs went up in my neighborhood this weekend. Beat Moran!

Jacob "Bumper" Hornberger is running for Senate as an Independent. He's a big-and-small-ell Libertarian, but couldn't get the Party's endorsement. IMO an excellent choice. Hornberger for Senate

Be sure to read his biography.

Please keep me on your list. I'm in the idiot's district. Makes me think moving to FL by the end of the year is the best plan I've had in a long time. When taxes increase by 11%, I won't be around to have to pay 'em. Yippeeeeee!

And a poster above said it correctly, John Warner is such a RINO that rats don't even bother putting up someone against him. That's a heckuva an indictment, if you ask me.

Let's hope the referendum doesn't pass. It can't be stressed enough that the increase is 11%! The tax hike proponents are trying make it more palatible by saying "it's only a 1/2 cent increase".

Folks visiting Virginia will also be affected by the potential sales tax hike. Anyway, hope you enjoy Flori-duh --stay clear of hanging chads! :)

Probably the same reason that democRATS didn't put up anyone against Davis!
