Need Advice on a Firearm Purchase (Only 2nd Vanity ever)

Help me decide witch one of these firearms to purchase as I am confusing myself. Currently I own a SW 357 revolver and that's fine for home. I am female with small wrists and average sized hands, kinda long fingers and would value FReeper advice if you have experience with either of these weapons. Should I look at Glocks as well? I don't care for 9mms such as Ruger etc. Thanks in advance.

My .357 can also handle .38s, I suppose that is common? Yes it's universal but the opposite is not possible. No .357s in a .38.

Note. The .357 Sig semi-auto caliber which is different from the .357 magnum will not shoot .38s

There's always a little technicality with handgun calibers these days.....there are so damn many choices.

Loved that reply! If you're already a good shooter with few bad habbits, find out what feels the best for you. If not, find a good instructor, and then explore. But remember, I you want a gun that you will carry, pick one that you will carry most of the time. You need to pick one that won't be inconvenient at one point or another, so you can consistantly carry it. Otherwise, it's just a gamble on the odds on if will you have it at the right time.

PS Convenience of carry was the point of discussion with a close friend of mine and we both came to a conclusion that would lead to such a flame war here, I would not want to even say it openly!

my wife loves my Kimber custom eclipse .45 more than any other pistola. being stuck with me she has tried them all.
just buy what you WILL carry.
it will do you no good sitting at home.
also, shoot a butload of ammo- and figure you may need to shoot thru sheetrock or a car door and heavy winter clothing.
even consider staggering loads, my first shot may be hollowpoints and the next glasers, etc..
if the first don't get 'em the second will.

The .357 trigger was very heavy and had it modified and I can handle it well, it just isn't very exciting to shoot.

My experience has been that most women start freaking out after 9mm.

Really? My daughter who barely weighs 100 lbs. prefers her husband's .44 mag. over the 9mm.

No Plastic....Smoothed edges for pocket or purse.... and smooth shooting....Right out of the box.
MUCH more pleasant and easier to shoot that .357/.41/.44 - very subtle and controlled.

LOL. I know what you mean, my daddy had me fishing at barely 3 and I was out in the woods at 13 shooting his 22 (w/o his knowledge). Poor man...he should have had a son. Baseball is another story, can't stand it, but I humor him by acting interested.

Yep....I try not to anger any of them. Good luck......go to your best gun shop around that has a big selection with an indoor range and test what you like best. Sounds like you already understand recoil and weight from your magnum revolver. In that case....you will probably be disappointed in anything under a .40 caliber although the James Bond looking Sig 232 and the similar Walther or Berreta .380 or 9mm semis are at least "interesting" as well from an asthetic perspective.

The smallest handbag semi of any consequence is the North American Arms Guardian in .380.....full time double action but quite small, well made and inexpensive. We have one. We like it...for what it is. If you see one check it out just for sh!ts and giggles.

I plan on doing the CCL here in Texas, it irks me that you have to recertify so often here to the tune of 200 bucks or so. Good advice, thanks.
