Fort Myers resident and constitutionalist Jim Anderson, from left, joins Mark Gerstel and Cindy Kemp of Golden Gate Estates, Sara Walley of New Mexico, and a group of local property owners and property rights supporters for a candlelight prayer vigil on Tuesday night at the Collier County Government Center. Kemp is the founder of the Property Rights Action Committee. Property rights activists are fighting Collier County's rural fringe plan and are planning a rally, the Sawgrass Rebellion, for Oct. 17 and 18. Lisa Krantz/Staff |
An Open Letter to Staff Reporter Lisa Krantz
For what it's worth, there will be some serious questions of Collier County Government!! Some may think Californians are brain dead when it comes to the U.S. Constitution and patriotism but they might think again. Dr. Michael Newdow may want God out of the Pledge of Allegiance; he had to lie to convince the 9th Circuit Supremes but we and a nation all fought back! We dealt with the wannabee cop killer, 6th grade teacher Kory Clift who thought it cool to burn our flag in front of his students after 911. He'll never step foot in a California classroom again!
So, you see Ms. Krantz, we have a long tradition of sticking by our friends when the cause is just. With equal fervor, we challenge those who would nullify the Bill of Rights. The Fifth Amendment protections for our people "...nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation." Most recently, the question must be put to Collier County on First Amendment issues: "for the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government a redress of grievances."
In all this, we try to moderate our passions with a sense of humor and human interests. This item for your consideration:

A Community's gift of respect and love. Dave Jenest is just one of many California resident activists whose heart will be in Florida when the Sawgrass Convoy arrives even though they could not make the trip themselves. He told rally participants he planned to send a "dignitary" from their own neighborhood to represent Sacramento, California's capitol city. Fearless Farmer Fred, (right) handcrafted by "the kids from the hood", was handed over to Klamath Falls Bucket Brigade member Rocky Dipple (middle) by Dave (left) with a pledge and a handshake. Farmer Fred will find a new plot of land and family in Florida as the Ambassador of Good Will from California's Farms, Ranches and private property owners. |
Fred finds himself in very distinguished company.
Wagon master Bill Ransom heads the Bucket Brigade from Klamath Oregon. Ransom is a leader! In the standoff at the Klamath A Canal headgates last summer, Bill convinced fellow farmers, as armed federal officers stood by to keep the head gates closed, "Now is the time to build on public sympathy while pressing the U.S. Interior Department to restore full irrigation supplies next spring". They're winning those heart and minds and now turn to help Florida's Farmers. The suggestion that property owners in Homestead would become willing sellers looked strikingly similar to programs proposed to Klamath Basin farmers, which in their minds, amounted to unwarranted taking of property. |

So Ms. Krantz, I will share with you my message to our convoy patriots, for whom I had the distinct and humble pleasure of hosting in our city of Sacramento on Monday:
Dear friends and fellow soldiers: Dick Bergeron wrote, "Let's all take a moment of silence for the farmers in Florida who will be taking the brunt of this." This came in the wake of news from Florida that Collier County was out as a rallying site.
Dick, I think we all took a moment of silence in Sacramento for a murdered patriot, correct? Now is not the time for silence, it is a time to be heard, loudly, strongly and with unity. Count me in pal!!
You also wrote: "Apparently the committee was unable to obtain permits. So much for the right of citizens to assemble".
In my humble opinion, we need to get all the specifics of that permit process and what went wrong. I think we need names, titles and agencies that played any role in this affair. If our folks made mistakes, so be it, forget any blame game and move on. If on the other hand, their rights were violated, perhaps we should consider legal action in the appropriate courts.
Our friend Kathy Van Tuyl has hit the nail on the head more than once with this:
Never give in, never give in, never, never, never.... in nothing great or
small, large or petty -- never give in except in convictions of honor and
good sense." Winston Churchill
Now, let us not forget we have much work ahead, and several California issues on the forefront of this battle. WE HAVE TWO DOGS IN THIS FIGHT!
Do not underestimate the importance of the Border Ranch case before the Supreme Court. Pray for a just verdict, PUSH for national exposure! I'm here to do whatever I can to support the continuation of the convoy and the Florida gathering.

The Rebellion Lives
After a long Conference Call last night with J. Walley of Paragon, and Grant Gerber who is with and in charge of the convoy, it was decided that Naples will be holding a reception for the convoy in Naples on October 18th.
It will be the Saw Grass Block Party and will be held in the residential area that is being affected by CERP, ROMA, and a Greenspace Tax that is being voted for in November.
We are all cramming and devoting our time to getting this message out there should be some article in WNN and other publications please keep an eye out for these as they pop up and spread the word.

To: farmfriend
My favorite part was when Lager yelled at the tree worshipper. LOL! Comwatch did a great job as emcee! He's a natural. Farmfriend, hats off to you for all the hard work. I thought it went very well. For victory & freedom!!!
To: Saundra Duffy
The Tree hugger came back. He and I got into it. He started talking about the need to protect the forest and then went off on how the logging companies make extreme profits off of public land. I asked him what the "heck" did profits have to do with protecting the forest. He didn't have an answer.
