WHY I AM NO LONGER A DEMOCRAT

Over the past few years I have realized that, while the rule of law means a lot to me, it means very little to the Democratic Party. Three years ago, I was so disgusted with how they had protected Clinton that I left the Party. Then, late in 2000, I was so horrifed with their attempts to use the courts to change inconvenient state election laws that I decided to do whatever I could to keep them out of power. And to me, that meant doing the unthinkable-- I became a Republican. So in a way, it's nice to see the New Jersey Democrats confirm that, while my decision might have been hasty and rash, it wasn't wrong. This time control of the Senate is at stake and the "Party of the People" is yet again attempting to use a state supreme court loaded with Democrats to shamelessly keep themselves in power.

What kills me is that being a Democrat means never having to pay for a mistake. The New Jersey Democratic Party knew all about the allegations against Torricelli when they nominated him. On the last legal day to change the ballot, they gambled that they had a better chance with Torricelli than with anyone else. Now they suspect they were wrong and want the Court to rule that the Law is not what the legislature votes on and the governor signs. Apparently the Law is whatever suits the Democrats the best at any given moment. But this time, I doubt the US Supreme Court will stop it. Only the good people of New Jersey will be able to do that. They now seem to know a crook when they see one, so maybe there's hope.

Excellent post by Janeane Garafolo... or whoever. I HOPE she wrote this and did "come to the light". Perhaps we can get to the bottom of whether or not it is Garafolo. Bill O'Reilly interviewed her recently when he took his show out to Hollywood (good interview). This post by "Shiloh Bucher" should get to O'Reilly, then he can confront her on it, if it's true. Would make for an interesting segment on his show!

For the seventeenth time today, we're not 100% sure--another blogger claims it is, based on his own analysis--and yes, we all hope that it is, 'cause it would mean that we've turned yet another one from the "dark side."

Looks to me more like just a big misunderstanding. Folks, I can confirm that FReeper spatula is indeed the blogger Shiloh. I've met her several times at various conservative/Republican events here in Austin, and on none of those occasions were either she OR her hubby impersonating Janeane Garofalo, LOL! They are delightful folks, and even came to one of our Heart of Texas FR Chapter meetings last year.

Funny thing is, until these threads today, I had no idea that her thoughtful and well-written weblog even existed. It would be a shame if Garofalo got the credit for the excellent posted essay, the work is all spatula/Shiloh's. Janeane Garofalo had nothing to do with it. It's still a great piece, though.

Judging from the various quotes so many FReepers dug up from Garofalo, she is, sadly, probably a lockstep lefty. I don't know much about her (don't follow the celebrity crowd that closely), but have heard that she's considered one of the smarter and sharper SNL alumni... perhaps one day she'll see the light, but this particular revelation isn't Janeane Garofalo's.

Hope this puts this rumor to rest.
