In  the Free Republic Congress, October 2, 2002

Where as Congressman James McDermott (?? District Washington) did visit the nation of Iraq in time of war with the United States Of America and did state in a television interview from the enemy capital of Baghdad that the President of the United States Of America would mislead the American People and is attempting to provoke a war,

“I think the president would mislead the American people”

Whereas  Congressman Schakowsky  (?? District Illinois) in time of war  defended the repugnant remarks delivered by Congressman McDermott  on the Fox News Channel. "I really don't think it's wrong to question the president,".

Whereas David Bonior acting in the capacity of  impersonating a congressman did visit the nation of Iraq in time of war and did concur with the Congressman McDermott.

It is  resolved that the Congress of the Free Republic acting in open daily session   hereby reprimand and condemn the actions and statements  of Congressman McDermott, Congresswoman Schakowsky, and wishhewasstill congressman David Bonioer , and further resolved that notification be given to the three by registered letter.

The Free Republic Fantasy Congress is a serious simulation intended to determine if we can reach agreement on something suitable for actual submission to the appropriate committee of US  House of Representatives and our own individual Congressmen.

The resolution is a draft provided to the forum for advice and consent. It is intended to be limited in scope to the reprehensible activities of the Iraqui 3. if you want to enlarge the scope, perhaps a different resolution is in order. The resolution may need factual editing and such input is desirable.

The draft is just that and suggestions and revisions are solicited. We presently have no means to vote or arrive at a conclusive final draft but we can try and see what happens.

There are many FReepers with good ping lists, send this along to your campadres and chapter leaders.

McDermott is a dumbass for suggesting that Bush is more likely to lie to U.S. citizens that Hussein is. However, since there is not, in fact, a state of war between Iraq and the U.S., your resolution won't fly.

Remove: "in time of war with the United States Of America" in the first paragraph. Add two paragraphs:

"Whereas Saddam Hussein is in deliberate non-compliance with U.N. Security Council resolutions and is in defiance of international law, and is a danger to his own people and those of the United States of America."

"Whereas these remarks give aid and comfort to this international criminal."

The revised resolution with proposed amendments is below. Some further revision seems necessary to cleanup the status of David Bonior. Also,  Mike Thompson, D-Calif 1st also went to Iraq but didn't say much. perhaps he should be included as well.
