Hell, Bill Simon could pull it in California, right now. Great idea Sink. Simon goes out, and Jones goes in, and Davis goes out. I like it!
Bill Jones? What about Ahnuld.... the Terminator!

Good job. That case cannot help the Torch.

It would be the same situation as it was with the appointment to the civil rights commission. One can only serve one term, which in the Senate, it is six years.
To: San Jacinto
then he/she serves til the next succeeding general election (2004) or until a special election, if one is called. Since Torricelli's seat is up at this election, I can't see the governor appointing someone for two years. He should be compelled to call a special election to fill the seat. If he goes for a two-year appointment, then he'll just have another special election on his hands for the remaining four years for the seat.

Clinton is eligible to serve two more years of an abbreviated term.

Bey actually has his reasonable moments, however fleeting they might be. I mean, he actually said he wouldn't vote for Torricelli if he were a resident of NJ. But usually he he just gives me reason to roll my eyes. :)
My husband and I lived in New Haven for a couple years. We've been in Northern NJ for the past 6 or so, with a few in NYC in between.

Californians are so tinsel town and Hollywood. It is all about seeing and being seen. They disgust me. I want no part of them and their terminal plasticity.

The Senate Pro Tempore is right behind the Speaker in line.

Ah-nold is already running polls for a write in bid for California Governor in the last week according to National Review Magazine..
We are really into the silly season now!
To: Torie
So, you're thinking that Toricelli keeps his seat so the rats maintain a majority and then the rats mount a massive write in campaign for the rat of their choice?
Sorry if you're repeating yourself but this is a long thread and I'm out of the loop.

Brit Hume .......said sources are saying that Daschle and Harry Reid are on the phone with Congressman Robert Menendez of NJ twisting his arm to step up and make the run..

I don't watch CNN but I predict Carville and Begala will be all for it... I don't know how meaningful this is but the politics room at Pogo (video poker) is totally silent. I even asked about Toricelli and didn't get ONE response.
Later in the evening discussion is usually dominated by Repubs, but I don't know the makeup of who is there now.

I will not be responsible for the loss of the Democratic majority of the U.S. Senate."*snicker* You just ASSURED it, Torchie Baby! You are the Bill Buckner of the 2002 campaign!
SNUFFED!
Or, if I may mix metaphors: You ARE the weakest link, goodbyyyyeee!

Plus Arnold is a RINO, and thus must be stopped at all costs.

Sounds like Judge Neopolitico may be wrong on the 1 year election delay.
Then again, it seems like that NJ statute that is being cited over and over conflicts with the Constitution. So in theory the Dems could invoke it. Ultimately it would be shot down by the USSC, but perhaps if the Democrats know that they are going to lose this seat, they'll do as much damage as possible. I can just hear all their ignorant sycophants citing this passage over and over on TV, and using the terms 'unfair' and 'disenfranchised'.
To: Senator Pardek
How about Strom, he is Sentate Pro Tem Emeritus isnt that higher up than KKK Byrd?

Plus Arnold is a RINO, and thus must be stopped at all costs. Hell in Kaliforniastan, I'd take whatever I could get.

Now isn't it time for people to call upon Senator Tom Harkin to withdraw from his race
given his involvement in the taping of his opponent scandal? Maybe this "withdrawal" thing is more contagious than Daschle and company imagine?
