Firefighters Investigated For Frolic With Woman In Thong
Pittsburgh Channel ^ | 9/25/02

Video of a woman on an Upper Darby, Pa., firetruck has landed volunteer firefighters in a situation too hot to handle.

The firefighters snapped pictures of a sexy Philadelphia dancer as she posed suggestively on their Ladder 37 truck outside a Rolling Stones concert at the Tower Theatre.

A professional photographer who was outside the theater captured a much different picture from the one he originally was shooting for.

The unidentified woman posed on the truck wearing a Fire Station 3 helmet, a cut-off black tank top with the word "sexy" on it and short shorts. At one point, she dropped the shorts to reveal her thong underwear.

In one shot (pictured, left), a fireman appeared to be tucking the woman's underwear back in her shorts and helping her zip them up.

Some residents are upset about the pictures

"You have a duty to uphold the obligations and integrity which that organization subscribes to," said Upper Darby resident Chris Felton.

Township officials are also steaming over the sensuous scenes.

"People use poor judgment. It's not appropriate for firefighters to put themselves in that position. Poor judgment," said Upper Darby Administrator Thomas Judge Jr.

Judge also said that at least four volunteers, whose names he would not release, should not have allowed their late-night entertainer on the truck. He said that the truck might have made an unauthorized stop at the concert.

Judge said that the deputy fire chief and the fire marshal were at the concert on official business. The deputy then called for additional help. Which fire companies responded is still under investigation.

"They are out representing Upper Darby Township when they are on the job, and if they don't want to act in proper, procedure manner, then we don't want them as volunteers," Judge said.

The administrator also said that he hopes to wrap up the investigation by Friday and decide on the firefighter's punishment at that time.

Do I have to be a Bible thumper to be Conservative?

Sadly to some here yes, you do have to be a bible thumper to be conservative. You can't be conservative just because secular logic has proven the coservative ideal to be correct, it must be in the context and a reflection of the bible, otherwise to these people you aren't conservative at all.

The prudes who run Darby Township should dismiss these Volunteer firemen, if what they did so outrages them.

Then they can establish their own fire department and pay for the services of such firemen.

Or retrain a whole new volunteer crew and pay for that. Or do nothing and let their f**king town burn down, next time a fire breaks out.

What these volunteer firemen should do is all walk out and let the city council fight fires, since its their responsibility.

You will notice the woman's "face" isn't showing....now what have I been telling you all about many of the women in Pennsylvania?

Are you saying if I sold brown paper bags in PA, I'd make fortune?

After a few quiet months, the devil's panties strike again...

Kind of like the SUV, it's the fault of the inanimate object, not the person in it.

To quote Fraser, "Excuse me, I need to go poke out my mind's eye now." I suppose we will eventually reach the state of enlightenment of the eurotrash ... we appear to follow them by about five years (and that gap is shrinking).

the citizens who pay them

Look up the word volunteer next time you are around a dictionary. Also, what makes you think conservatives are all God believing folks. Must a person be a Christian to be a conservative?

Volunteer firefighters

I suggest they just stay home and let some of those who are complaining risk their life for no pay.

Perhaps some Freeper males could explain something that has puzzled me for some time. Are conservative men concerned with morality or not? Is their morality relative? Do they believe what the Bible says or merely pay it lip service? You can't have it both ways. This is not what I would call admirable behavior and shows no respect for women or for the citizens who pay them.

Perhaps I can help. Unlike many social conservatives, who were dope smoking, long haired scum in their early days, I have been a conservative since I got my first job at 15. I belive that if you are hurting no one that both the government and I should do all we can to stay out of your business. I do not approve of what they did, and might try to drag them to Church Sunday, but in the end they did no harm. I believe this to be a basic test of a true conservative.

I am a right wing Christian, who believes the Christian Right is almost as bothersome as the liberals.

As to the people who pay them, please note they are volunteers who risk life and limb while most people never give any volunteer time to anything.

Whew, did I get landed on for this one! First of all, you are all right concerning the volunteer part, I missed that. Sorry.

However, as for the question, "Does a conservative have to be a Christian?", the answer is no, there are many non-Christian conservatives, BUT where do standards of behavior and values come from? Apparently some of you think that morals and values are relative. In that case, there's nothing wrong with anything. Every individual decides for himself what is right or wrong. How can you complain about Clinton's immorality if nothing is immoral? There are either God's standards or man-made standards, and what most people seem to be governed by today are man-made, culturally approved standards, which is the same as no standards at all. I'm sorry, but it just makes me sad to see people behave this way. And, according to the Bible, lust is wrong, so I have to disagree with the person who sees nothing wrong with what he called "adult activities".

Freegards to all, even when we disagree,

Pining

Pining,

You make a huge leap of logic, when you claim those who aren't bible thumbers support the argument "everything is relative." I hate to be the one to break this to you, but "man made" standards date back even to the bible... You do not believe man had a hand in writing, or selecting which books made their way into the bible as we know it? Not to deminish anyones faith, I was raised Catholic myself, the Bible is a moral guidebook, but the idea that every idea within it verbatim is the "will of God" is inconsistent.

Parts of the bible clearly contradict other parts. Jesus takes the prostitutes and sinners under his wings, yet fundamentalists chastise them and cast them out as sinners. I was raised catholic, and attended catholic schools, and even did theological studying in college as well, and consistently the presentation of the bible was always in the context of moral principles and lessons, not absolute verbatim fact. Jesus spoke in parable for a reason.

Now, as to the point of moral "relativism", morality, even yours is relative. Your's is relative to your interpretation of the Bible. Scholars have debated the meanings of parts of the new and old testiments since the day they were written, so it is difficult for anyone to say their morals are not relative. There are 10 rules that are fundamental, the 10 commandments, and non, none say it is immorral to see nudity, or have lustful feelings.

IT does say not to covet a neighbors wife, and says thou shall not commit adultery. Now the 10th which mentions thy neighbor's wife clearly speaks of being envious, not simply lustful, otherwise I doubt it would list all the other things not to covet as well. And the immorality of adultery, again is not lust, but the actual act. And adultery can only be committed by those that are married, and given historical definition of the word adultery argument can also be made that it have a willful and malicious intent toward the marriage relations.

So, based on the absolute word of God, even from the bible, it is difficult to take the stand that lust is inately evil, or nudity or sexuality are. It is also another jump in logic to argue that nudity etc are inately disrespectful to women.

There is a large difference between a fundamental philosophy or moral center of "live and let live" and "do unto others" which really is the central moral epitath of Christianity and Judeism and would be agreed upon by I bet nearly 90+% of nearly all humans in judeo-christian societies, and pure "moral relevatism" as you deduce it.

according to the Bible, lust is wrong

Where do babies come from, then?

As far as I know, there are certain hydraulic and lubricatory functions, largely involuntary and 100% lust-driven, which HAVE to function in order for conception to take place.

Sounds to me like somone's briefs are fitting a little too tight these days. I'm assuming since there are no allegations to the contrary that this situation did not pose an impediment to the firemen in pursuing their duties, and that no citizens were placed in danger by this episode. End of story. If I had to guess this is a case of some old busybody calling their councilman to complain because they have nothing better to do with their time.

You will only find three types of men who would say that they have any problem with "admiring scantily clad women" .

1. Liars and manipulators (currying favor with the listener).

2. Older men who are now guilt ridden due to an "excessive" youth ... ie hypocrites.

3. Closet homosexuals who use "morality" as a cover for their lack of interest in women.

My viewpoint on this has developed over the years by exposure to many who claim to be bible thumpers (baptists specifically), ministers, moralists, and such. They are the worse. These guys will preach and preach about such things when their wives are around then they will drag their friends to strip clubs when they are supposed to be fishing. It never ceases to amaze me how naive most women are.

There is a difference between the Spirit of Christ and the spirit of lust. Lust, greed, jealousy...all the same. They cannot co-exist in the prescence of the Holy Spirit.

Well not only do I have standards, I insist that my elected officials, teachers, and those who deal with my children either have high standards or keep their mouth shut. I do not however believe that a couple of volunteer firefighters looking at some girl who was wearing more than some of the teenagers do at the CC pool (where we vote BTW) need to have me or my government attack their action. If what she was wearing was a problem the lady, and the photogapher should have been arrested.
