Question: Is it true that, at the Miss America pageant, a question was asked of Miss New Jersey (Miss Lucia) about the Sopranos? No other Americans must put up with such insults. Since there's no one else to bash the dogs are unleashed against Americans of Italian without any hindrance. this site gleefully joins the chorus.
Most Italians I know and work with (and there are several) also join the chorus and laugh about it all.
Don't take everything so seriously. Fact is, certain groups of people have certain stereotypes attached to them. Maybe they're grouped and stereotyped by race, maybe it's their profession, or maybe it's religion or nationality.
It's not necessarily fair and the stereotypes don't even need to be remotely accurate. It just is.
If you're a fellow freeper, then let's not fall into the same trap that some other groups have found themselves in. Life's too short and there's too much to accomplish.
It's also worth noting that a corrupt, disgraceful Italian-American piece of sh!t like New Jersey senator Robert Torricelli doesn't to much to dispel any stereotypes about Italian-Americans.
(In case anyone is wondering, I'm an American of Irish descent who is perfectly willing to accept any similar sterotypes of Irish-Americans. A bloated, drunken slob like Ted Kennedy doesn't do much to dispel these stereotypes, either.)
Imagine thinking that everyone in the country watches that show...
I am outraged.

(Note that these are all keys in the middle of the keyboard, indicating a perfect drop of the head.)
Rent a movie "Once upon a time in AMerica."
But then, again, facts don't matter to you, do they?
I've never seen it once.
Ummm, yes you do. You don't recall the movie "Bugsy" that came out a few years ago? Plenty of films have been made about Lansky, Seigel and other Jewish mobsters. Still more if you watch the History Channel or the Discovery Channel.
They didn't have the impact that the "Godfather" movies have had (and their multiple offsprings) so the Italians get more ink about mob ties than the Jews do but the Jews have had their share (There was Hyman Roth in the Godfather movies too).
I'm neither so it's not my issue. If you really wanted to fight stereotyping, you might take umbrage at the fact that most of the Jewish mobsters were portrayed as shrewd businessmen.
A movie? Man, an epic! One of my favorite films of all time, up there with "Once Upon a Time in the West."
Both made by one of my fave moviemakers, Sergio Leone. A great Italian gentleman, to boot! :-)
Being 25% Basque I have people ask me if I am related to sheep, I smile, and tell them "Only by marriage".
Yes you do. There was a movie about Meyer Lansky starring Richard Dreyfus. Also there was a movie about Murder Inc., starring Peter Falk. Oh, and there definitely was a movie about Bugsy Siegel starring Warren Beatty (lousy movie).
While you can point out secondary figures in a few movies in an attempt to show your behind, the overall pattern is clear.
