TV STATIONS REJECT DEM'S ADS ATTACKING REPUBLICANS
The Washington Times

Democrats' television strategy to paint Republicans as supporting privatization of Social Security hit a snag the last two weeks when stations in North Carolina and West Virginia refused to run the ads.

In West Virginia, TV stations have pulled and are refusing to run ads that say Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, a freshman Republican, did not vote for a measure that would have barred a hypothetical privatization of Social Security.

In announcing its decisions, one of the stations, NBC affiliate WSAZ, said its analysis "found that claim to be false."

And in North Carolina, several stations have pulled ads sponsored by the state Democratic Party that said Republican Senate candidate Elizabeth Dole would "gamble" Social Security money in the stock market. The ad attributed its claim to the Charlotte Observer, which said the claim was distorted.

Democrats have repeatedly said they want to make this year's election a referendum on Social Security and on the president's commission that recommended workers be allowed to invest part of their Social Security contributions.

But Republicans say that election strategy has failed.

Refreshing to see that not all media are conspiratorial left-wing. Maybe there's hope, yet.

That is pleasantly surprising news. Too bad some TV stations didn't feel the same way about the commercials trying to blame then Gov. Bush for James Byrd's awful death.

Thanks for the heads up Mad. I'll Ping the usual suspects.

Now if we could just get the local radio stations to do the same. I'm so SICK & TIRED of these STUPID social security ads Irksome has been running already and we are weeks away from the election.

I'm wondering if Bowels will be a single issue RAT or if he's just hitting the easiest lie first.

I am still seeing negative ads from Bowles repeatedly. Technically they are from the Democrats.

Janet Napolitano, running for Governor of Arizona against former Congressman Matt Salmon, has dusted off the old claim that the Republicans voted to "slash $270 billion from Medicare" in her latest attack ads, when of course the Republicans voted to increase Medicare by 6% annually.

These folks are shameless.

WV Dems caught lying? What a revolting development.

I can't believe the Bowles' radio ads I have heard here in central NC. I counted at least 5 distortions or out-right lies in the last one. I wonder why the stations would run these, if they checked they would see how distorted they are.

Bowles is way behind and desperate.
